1. Skyrim - some elements are disappointing but the exploration is excellent
2. The saboteur - original take on a familiar setting. The use of colour is great.
3. Fire emblem awakening - one the best handheld games ever
4. Sleeping dogs - just a lot of fun
5. Left 4 dead - great co op

Vagrant Story - Simply amazing game, pretty much nothing has come out like it since.
Tactics Ogre Let us Cling Together - Sublime strategy RPG, with the best story in gaming.
Persona 4 Golden - Unbelievably good JRPG with great social links that break up the dungeons.
Castlevania Symphony of the Night - Still the best in the series, still looks and sounds amazing.
Persona 4 Arena - The best 2D fighting game of all time. Gorgeous to look at and has a really good story mode.

Mafia - the best plot and characters I've seen in a game
Dark Chronicle - a wonderfully crafted world and some great ideas
Rocket: Robot on Wheels - a brilliant and clever platformer that was overshadowed by higher profile releases
Sonic the Hedgehog - a platforming classic that I still play 22 years after its release
Gitaroo Man - mental rhythm action game that's short and sweet; enjoyable and addictive.

REZ HD - Stunning to look at, but also has god like gameplay. Dat soundtrack :datass:

Burnout Paradise - Outrageously good racing game.
Uncharted 2 - One of the best character action games of recent years.
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater - Both hilarious and moving in places, some of the most memorable bosses in gaming and the best theme song ever.
Dark Chronicle - One of the best JRPGs of last gen.

OutRun 2 - The perfect arcade racing game.
Crackdown - Take GTA, add Mario. And some massively addictive orbs.
Mirror's Edge - A first person platformer that works, it might not be perfect, but the fact it works at all is pretty much a miracle.
Company of Heroes - The RTS that everyone should play. Forget about competitive multiplayer, this is the perfect single player RTS experience.
PacMan CE DX - PacMan Evolved.

I'd say, I got pretty far considering my weapons would only ever do 1 damage on an enemy because I didn't have the right stuff for the crafting system.

When the list is complete there ought to be a preferred play order.

For example, it wouldn't make much sense playing something like Crackdown or Mirror's Edge till you'd first played any 2D platformers or earlier FPSs and Super Mario 64 (when its added) should be the first proper 3D game played.

You could also pair companion games from the list that would complement each other well, either because they are similar or maybe because they are polar opposites.

Ghosts'n Goblins - Classic, classic arcade game and tough as nails.
Secret of Mana - Surprisingly pretty and innovative and still stands up as a good RPG today.
Bubble Bobble - Another arcade classic. Surprisingly addictive for something so simple. Oh and that music :wub:

World of Warcraft - Hate it or love it, needs to be played so you can at least appreciate how it has changed gaming.
Parodius - Gradius is arguably worth a mention before Parodius but...just....Konami....
