GRcade plays... Dark Souls series

Tried Sif 3 times, each attempt less successful than the last. How can you get less good at something the more you do it? :lol:

It seems much more difficult once you've died, as soon as you traverse through the fog gate he is on you like a cheap suit, no time to react it seems.

Any tips? My character is just too slow to dodge his sweeping hits and he jumps all over the place so it's hard to keep close enough to actually get a hit in.

Just catching up with the thread on how people have been getting on the past few days. I saw Mafro stream some Sekiro last night but I was in bed when your Souls stream started, dude.

Matt suggested I swing a few weapons around and get a feel for what ones I like. I think I will go with the Claymore but I need to upgrade it a bit; so I'll be grinding by the cathedral courtyard for an hour or two to gather some souls - and titanite - to hand over to Andre. After that, I'll stream again!

I started using the Claymore in Anor Londo. Upgraded it lots and it's plenty quick enough to see off most at the moment

I prefer something with the speed of the Scimitar.

The Falchion is a very decent weapon with high speed, just fyi. All of the katanas are good too.

I did try a katana, but I think it needed dex.

im liking it; i feel like im getting old because i kept pressing Ghost of Tsushima buttons at first in stressful situations which led to lots of silly deaths :lol:

i remember that Bloodborne took a while for me to like as the combat is quite different to Souls; in fact id say this is the most difficult Souls game ive played. i just fought Jinsuke (the super fast guy in the castle dojo) and that was the first time in a Souls game id felt my reaction speed is letting me down; killed him in the end but it felt a bit like a fluke!

It seems like a bit of an unpopular opinion but so far I prefer Dark Souls' combat to Dark Souls 3's. I don't think this necessarily means I wouldn't like Sekiro, but it's put me off a little bit. I enjoyed Maf's stream though so I've resolved to play Sekiro soon and find out for myself!

i dont think Sekiro's combat is much like DS3s so i think youre ok on that front. the speed is definitely more BB but with blocking/parrying more like Souls. its very different.

For sure! I guess what I mean is that I often see them put on a spectrum that goes (slow) DS1/2...DeS/DS3...BB/Sekiro (fast), but you're right, Sekiro is just fundamentally really different so it's pretty hard to tell without just playing it!
