Those weird creatures right outside the boss door were causing me a lot of issues to begin with. Really enjoyed that area of the game though. I think I’m going to head down to Pinwheel now.

Considering this is your first playthrough of Souls, you seem to be storming through it, Billbones!

I will update the log later and mark it as an incomplete run, Zilnad. Hopefully you could return to it at some point?

Zilnad wrote:...Will be starting Demon's Souls this week though. I never played the original so I'm really looking forward to it.

:toot: . I'll add this to the log, too!

That was a great session, Jen - and I learnt a new tip about the lizard guy on the narrow walkway when you enter the fortress - push him off the ledge  .

Yeah, I was doing well but haven't played for a week-and-a-half now. I hope to return to it tomorrow!

Its a bit like you playing BB and just cheating smashing everything :toot:

Pedz picked up that zweehander sword - from the graveyard - and powered it up a few levels... he is indeed smashing through stuff!

Thanks for adding Demon's Souls to the log. I'll let you know when I actually start it as I'll probably be playing Spider-Man first!

It's likely I'll return to my Dark Souls run one day. The beauty of playing it on Switch means if I have five minutes spare it's very easy to pick up again.

Zweihander was upgraded to lighting Zweihander, which turned out was the wrong thing to do against The Chode and Noodle Dick. I reverted it back and 2 handing the Zweihander did a strawberry float TON of damage to the mother strawberry floaters.

I'm wondering if - rather than upgrading the claymore - I should venture into the graveyard and try to get the zweihander. Hmmn... I'm not sure!

You should definitely try it out Jawa. (And any other weapons you think look cool!) The Claymore is a little more forgiving sometimes because it does swing a fair amount faster - but the Zweihander packs more sheer power!

Died 5 more times trying to beat Sif last night - I just can't do it :|

Closest I got was getting the cheeky scamp's health down to 50%, but those bloody sweeping attacks (particularly the double sweep) just obliterate me :x

I honestly took a while to get used to the Zweihander due to it being so slow, and a miss is pretty much a you letting the enemy hit you, but when you do get used to it and it's timing *Chefs Kiss*

I just don't know! Maybe I'll try the claymore now; IIRC it's the sword that I used in my run last year.

I think I'll go claymore; I'd like a reasonably speedy sword.

Dang, it's tough when you repeatedly face a boss and just can't seem to find a way past it. Hang in there, Preezy - you'll do this. I have yet to face Sif!

I really need to give the old Zweihander more of a try out, I never bothered with it on my first playthrough (and then sold it to Frampt! :fp: ) and have picked it up but not touched it this time. Maybe I will give it a bit of a swing on my next play! :D

Got the last couple of boss fights from my run uploaded to YouTube now. First up here is Sif from the other day:

I think the fact my character seems quite fast on her feet this time around made this fight much easier as I could stay close most of the time.

Next up is the Iron Golem fight from earlier today:

Was not expecting this to go so well! I seem to remember taking a few goes at this on my first play through - falling off the arena was a common problem but I think that was because I was a bit too fond of rolling last time around! I also don't remember him getting staggered at all on my last play, that I got him to fall over twice made this MUCH easier! :toot:

So I'm working my way through Londo now and will most likely be facing off against everyone's favourite O&S next time. Should be fun!

From dark souls 2 onward, ive always made a point of favouring speed over dps. I always make sure I've got a fast weapon that I mostly use the quick attacks over heavy, and give my character a load of stamina over health. That way I can move in, get several quick hits in and still have enough stamina to dodge or run. For DS3 I didn't even bother with a shield.

I managed to be the Iron Golem on my second attempt. My first attempt I got fire by the giant throwing explosives at me

You fought Sif before the Iron Golem? :o . I defeated the golem in my play last year but didn't see Sif!

He actually sat down twice and allowed you to just whack him! :slol: .

Oh, boy. That's as far as I got last time; those two are such a pain.

Yeah whilst Sif isn't optional it is one that you may not find until later as the point at which the fight becomes mandatory isn't until nearer the end.

We're all looking forward to your encounter with the Great Grey Wolf Sif Jawa! :D

Yeah it was nice of him, felt like his heart wasn't really in the fight!

Hmm do you think if I took off my armour and kept my shield for the Sif battle I'd be a bit quicker on my feet? Seems like I roll like a drunkard which doesn't help.

You need to keep your equipment load something around 70% or below, otherwise you 'fat' roll like you describe. I used to wear loads of heavy armour until I realised this, and by the last half of the game I was wearing the gold hemmed cloak and doing much better. I found it just better to be able to move as quickly as possible.

I've had to keep it below 50% or i fat roll. Issue is the damage you take greatly increases.
