Thanks all for watching and supporting last night - had a great session making my way through that cathedral.

Looking forward to tackling those priest dudes boss next Tuesday!

Started the Demons Souls remake this week. I’ve done 1-1 and 2-1 and it’s just so so good.

I’ve put my points into magic as I didn’t go down that route in Dark Souls and I’ve always wanted to.

The graphics are stunning but I have to say that I preferred the art style on Dark Souls, where everything is a little hazy and dreamlike.

There are times when things are a little too clean in Demons Souls.

But I really am just happy to be back in the From world.

I will be carrying on with my first ever playthrough at about 7.30 - 8ish on the GRcade channel tonight!

Kicking off with killing the Eyes Wide Shut sex cult in the cathedral and then I guess pushing on through where those abyss watchers lead to!

Ooh nice, I need to catch up with where you've got to as I've not managed to join the last couple of streams.

Have you taken down the Abyss Watchers then?

Yep did that last stream, and Karl voted that I do the cathedral next rather than push through from where the abyss watchers were.

I found them v hard initially but I was likely doing them a little too early as it feels like one should do the cathedral before the poison swamp

Had a decent session last night - beat the Deacons first try (they were pretty easy once I just rushed them) then made it through the Catacombs and beat the big skelly boi there without too much trouble once I (Karl) noticed that the bracelets were his weak point so managed to rush him and break all his bracelets before he called in reinforcements and got his sword out.

Then made it all the way through the next area (the Boreal Valley was it?) and got to the Pope boss with the fire and ice swords, got rocked by him and left it there for the night.

Completed Demons Souls tonight.

I’ve now done Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Demons Souls since this group was created, all for the first time, so thanks Jawa!

I’d give each game 10/10 as I’ve found them all mesmerising in different ways.

Which From game should I try next?

I'll be carrying on with my first Dark Souls 3 playthrough tonight - got to kill that pope boss with the fire and ice swords.

Really hoping this playthrough leads to my first ever completed Soulsborne game!

Aww shame, sorry I've not managed to make it to any of your recent DS3 streams but it sounded like you were making some good progress!

Enjoy Nuzlocke-ing!

(DS3 post. I'll spoiler bits that are ahead of Aaron's run.)

Dark Souls 3 has finally clicked with me, for two reasons:
1. Seeing how cool some of the later game areas look via Aaron's stream, which gave me some motivation to stick with it
2. Discovering heavy weapons with the Perseverance weapon art, which makes the game play like you're going full Havel in Dark Souls 1

My problem with DS3 was always the combat feeling too fast to keep up with. Now, I genuinely don't mind getting stressed and frantically rolling around for a boss or miniboss, but being relentlessly bullied by normal mobs feels bad to me and winds me up. I've found that two-handing the biggest heaviest weapons I can find (cough!), and using Perseverance to poise through the attacks of particularly aggressive mobs, is a way for me personally to get from A to B in the game without constantly dying to random turds wandering the overworld. I use a crossbow to aggro enemies one at a time, then I cast the WA to ignore their hits and flatten them into pancakes with my great hammer. I don't think everyone would find this play-style fun but I'm totally fine with adopting a kind of cheesy strategy!

The game has some fantastic areas and boss fights. I think one of the highlights so far for me was clearing all the garbage out of Smouldering Lake (the ballista and the lightning worm) so I could hoover up all the loot - just felt very satisfying to me! Loved the Demon Ruins and thought they did a good job at reimagining the zone - it was one of the not-so-good ones in DS1 so they had their work cut out! The Boreal Valley and the Profaned Capital were both really impressive aesthetically speaking. Thought revisiting Anor Londo was fantastic obviously. I got through Saint Aldritch alright but The Dancer straight afterwards was a very tough fight that took me a few goes to get right.

As far as I know I've done everything you can do before placing the Basin of Vows so that'll be the start of my next session! I'm about SL 70 ish. Currently wielding Smough's Great Hammer +5.

No, I'm still where I was last stream - it might just be once in a blue moon but I'm keeping DS2 for Twitch! :toot:

I'll maybe do a random DS3 stream over the Easter weekend chaps, just as I've missed the last couple of Tuesdays and this next one is my partner's 30th and "I need to play a video-game so my video-game forum can watch me" won't fly haha.

I'll be back to regular Tuesdays after that though!

Glad to hear you're enjoying it Karl! Makes me sort of think I may have chosen the "wrong" build for my run but I'm willing to push through!
