Got to the Four Kings and hit another brick wall. Guess I'll need to come back when I'm more powerful.

Also stupidly used my only Titanite Slab on leveling up the lightning spear weapon, when I should have used it to get my mace to +15.

Four Kings can be tricky, if I recall the key is aggression, you need to take each one down fast otherwise you get overwhelmed

I believe they also do less damage when you're close to them. The only real tactic is rush straight at them, spam attacks and heal when one goes down.

Those were great tips guys. I went back tonight and managed to beat them on my second try. Used some gold pine resin, and healed whenever I went under half health. Two handed, and just kept hitting like hell!

Also took down the Ceaseless Discharge (a doddle) and progressed through the Demon Ruins to the bonfire before the boss.

Nice work! :toot:

Ceaseless Discharge isn't too tricky, especially if you don't come to it early - some of the hitboxes on his attacks can be pure bullshit though!

Made some more DS2 progress last night, I felt like I had reached dead ends in all of the avenues that were open to me but things have now opened back up a bit and I've got some nice new places to explore!

Tweeted some more boss victories, I think these are still generally a bit of a let down compared to other entries in the series, really hoping that I meet a really good one soon to tip the balance back a bit!

Mytha was a right pain until I listened to the notes left by other players and realised that you could clear the pool of poison from the arena by burning down the windmill. I almost had her beat with all the poison around so without it the battle was almost ridiculously trivial!

The DLC bosses for DS2 are much better than anything the main game has to offer.

DS2 also suffers from just too many bosses. I think there are about 30-40 or so? Compare that to Bloodborne which has about 17.

A lot of DS2 bosses tend to be quirky and a bit of a joke, or just a variation of "big knight in armour".

Started my fourth run of Bloodborne the other night, trying to switch things up by starting with the cane and focusing on fast weapons/dex build since previous runs I've used mainly mid-to-heavy stuff like the axe/holy blade/burial blade. Beaten Cleric Beast and cleared everything in Central Yharnam ready to fight Gascoigne next, only died once so far which is nice (I underestimated how badly the executioner could stomp a waste of skin starting character with no levels lol).

I honestly don't remember any of the bosses from the main game of DS2 other than the chariot and the big spider (and one of the great soul bosses was a giant butcher type thing I think?). The only really standout boss is the Pursuer and that's only because he turns up to bother you so much. The DLC had some great ones though, especially the ice region. That final boss is *chef's kiss*

Yeah there's definitely been too many of them in general, and too many that feel like a bit of a joke rather than a serious challenge. I'm struggling to think of a boss that I've encountered so far that I've actually come away from thinking "wow, that was great!"

The final boss of the ice one for me was:

The dual tiger one.

Was a right pain, probably the hardest one in the game for me and one of the hardest in the series. The run to the boss was annoying as well with those invisible enemies.

Played a ton of Dark Souls over the weekend, and I'm on to the DLC now. Called it a night after getting beaten by Artorias a few times. The difficulty has certainly ramped up. The likes of Nito and Seath were very easy.

I wasn't getting anywhere with Artorias, so I went off and killed Gwyn to finally beat Dark Souls! \o/ Praise the sun! :toot:

I've taken a USB save backup, so I can go back to finish the DLC soon.

Well played, Yoshimi! It seems that you enjoyed your journey into Souls. After you've worked through the DLC, do you think you may tackle another game in the Soulsborne series?

I've beaten Dark Souls 3 and Demon's Souls already. Got as far as Rom in Bloodborne. Looking forward to Elden Ring now.

Had the second death of my bloodborne run against Gascoigne, managed to get him on the second go though. I then proceeded to die several times against the ball and chain church giant in cathedral ward because I could not remember its moveset for the life of me lmao

Having a fun time with the threaded cane, never used it much in other runs but it's surprised me with how useful it is. I do miss having a bit more stagger potential from heavy weapons though. Looking at the Skill scaling list I think I'll probably end up ditching it to focus on some combination of Rakuyo/Blades of Mercy and Beasthunter Saif/Church Pick, although given how long it takes to get most of those I guess I'll be stuck with the cane for a while.

I've decided I'm enjoying life too much right now so I'm going to start Dark Souls 2 later this morning. First playthrough, don't know what to expect - I've completed DS3 and Bloodborne but that's about it.

Will stream it if anyone fancies seeing my failures.

Ooh! A newcomer to Souls II! This is gonna be fun for us :toot: .

I've not actually tackled the game myself, aayl, but I have watched a few others and they all really enjoyed it.
