Spare a thought for me trying to do the fight using Zweihander :fp:

That's what I used.

I got the strawberry floaters tail in the end. The bastard.

So now in true Jenuall style I have to report that I defeated Kalameet on my first attempt.

Yep that's the only boss left. I still have to make sure I have all the stuff I need for NG+ so a little bit of cleanup is in order. Will probs do that tonight if I get a chance.

I like how in this people struggle with different bosses. I struggled with Kalameet, but killed Manu (or whatever it's called on the 3rd go) same with Artorias (again unsure of the name) and beat quite a few late bosses on the first go, but then spent hours on Gwyn, where people said he was fairly easy for them.

I had a hard time with Gwyn on my first playthrough too. Looking forward to seeing if my skills have improved since.

My NG+1 was pretty easy until I defeated O&S but the difficulty has really ramped up now. I’ve probably put too much into Intelligence because I can only wield sorcery as I don’t have the Strength stats to wield anything decent.

Just finished the Painted World and then I think I’m going to take on Seath, as Nito was absolutely hammering me in a couple of hits when I tried to fight him before I went to the Painted World.

I've not managed to play much more Dark Souls II over the last week, but I thought I'd start uploading some videos of my boss encounters.

Think I'm getting the hang of this YouTube face thumbnail clickbait game now!

Had a good session last night, took out Demon Firesage and The Bed of Chaos.

TBOC is such an annoying fight, I really don’t know what they were thinking with it. I used the super magic shield, which makes the final part of the fight much more bearable.

Demon Firesage was causing me a lot of trouble but then I realised if you stay close to him, he uses the AOE attack much less frequently.

Will go to fight Seath now …

Yeah, it is a great aspect, Pedz! Sometimes the bosses just seem to do things you weren't expecting and plans go awry. The first time I tackled Capra Demon I got by after a few attempts but in my second play it took me ages! The twin dogs just wouldn't play nicely and I kept taking a pasting. Eventually I got through it but, man, that Demon/small space/stairs/randomly-positioned-dogs combo just wrecked me!

You're ripping through this, Billbones, and it seems that you're close to finishing journey now. Are you thinking of playing a different Soulsborne game afterwards?

I really want to dive into DS2, as I’ve never played it before, but I’m back at work this week, and I’m not sure if I’ve got the time to commit to a new one. I wish they’d release the second one on Switch, i think these games are perfect for that system.

Yeah the bosses can definitely seem different when you tackle them on subsequent occasions! And I absolutely agree with the point about how interesting it can be when considering which bosses you personally found a challenge compared to the experience of others. I'm guessing part of it is just down to individual play styles, some bosses are probably easier if you are a more aggressive player or favour defence etc.

One thing I've found has continued to be successful across all Souls games is circling the bosses - some of them really can't seem to cope well with a player who is just constantly looping around the side of them!

Cheers Jawa, I'm sure there will be more where those came from! :slol:

This was my feelings as well - I really liked playing DS1 on Switch - the flexibility to pick it up and play whenever and wherever definitely helped to keep my journey going even in the challenging moments! Eventually I gave up waiting and just got DS2 on PC instead though

Level 1 run update:

I beat Hydra, Moonlight Butterfly, and Iron Golem off-stream - they aren't really much different in SL1 so I didn't think it would be fun to show. But on-stream, I managed to luck my way past the Anor Londo Archers the first time, and O&S was a fun challenge! We beat them in about seven or eight tries I think. My plan was to get comfortable then summon Solaire, but we unexpectedly got through it without Solaire which was a surprise! After that, Bed of Chaos took ages and was not fun to be honest  but at least it's done now!

I feel a bit bad for spending 20 mins on-stream practicing how a speedrunning "item duplication" glitch worked - but I think it was actually kind of interesting in the end! (I wasn't even making the game any easier, I was just avoiding farming humanity from rats because I thought it would be boring to stream that...!)

It's pretty easy to do so I'll incorporate it into future challenge runs - here are the steps if anyone is interested.

Warning: You probably shouldn't learn this until you've beaten the game once as you can get infinite souls pretty easily with it and it might spoil the challenge if you know about it! (A bit like the "cum chalice" in Bloodborne which I recently learned about on another stream...)

1. You need to get a large quantity of some item.
Buy lots of something cheap (like arrows) from a merchant. The more the merrier, aim for e.g. 999 if you can!
2. Store that number in the game's memory.
Go to your inventory and get up the prompt to drop that item. Use the menu to indicate that you're about to drop all 999, so you can see that number on screen. Don't actually drop them, cancel out of the menu.
3. Glitch out the menu.
Go to the "System" menu and highlight "Brightness". Tap A and then RB really quickly - I assume you're aiming for the inputs to be only 1 frame apart. Both the Brightness slider and your inventory will load.
4. Select the item.
Hit Down until you are highlighting both the item you want to use lots of (in the inventory menu) and the Brightness slider (in the brightness menu). Press A to get the dialog box to manage the selected item (in the inventory menu).
5. Manipulate the glitched menu.
Press Down and Right at the same time to highlight the OK button in the brightness menu without changing anything in the inventory menu. Hit Right to highlight the Default button in the brightness menu.
6. Use the item and select the large quantity stored in memory (not limited by how many you actually have).
Press A to get the Use Item prompt, then press Down to go all the way to 999. Hit A to confirm as usual.

You'll use all of the selected item, but the game will think "all" is e.g. 999 instead of how many you actually have!

It was fun seeing you take a new run at Souls last night, site! I hadn't at first realised what the "level 1" meant; for any other Souls noobs reading, it means that site-san was playing the game without upgrading any of his character's levels beyond their starting point. You can upgrade weaponary, though. This approach serves to make the game even more of a challenge.

It was cool seeing you skip past the Londo archers as they can be tricky. You battled so hard against O&S and, man, they can be frustrating so seeing you vanquish the two goons was marvellous. A very entertaining show!

I know right! I guess it's a mix of learning how the engine works, trial and error, and luck. It's really impressive but also a bit mind boggling!

Thanks dude! Glad you had fun, was great to chat. Hopefully catch you streaming sometime soon if you're feeling up to it! :toot:
