I'm not really sure of the etiquette around it, as obviously people change usernames online all the time, and for any number of reasons, but if she's changed her username as a result of transitioning, is it right to use her old one?

My intention here was to explain the (obviously flawed) thought process behind the torrent of abuse Narcissa has faced on Twitch in the last few years. It was obviously a touchy subject, and I apologise for pushing it unnecessarily. I'm transgender (genderqueer) myself, but that obviously doesn't excuse the extended dead-naming.

100% no need for you to apologise pal, it's an editorial issue. You explained the issue in a perfectly reasonable & acceptable way, and made a positive point. Making sure the final cut has these things tweaked so they "read right" is my responsibility and that's where Knoy's feedback was aimed -- no-one was suggesting you said anything offensive! So no worries -- I'll do that part better next time! :D

OrangeRakoon wrote:Really great stuff on editing this together Karl! I definitely took a while to warm up at the start there with all my ums and uhhs, but the discussion from 53 minutes to 1h10 especially about game difficulty and the intention of developers I found very interesting to be in and was great to listen back to!

I think you were great throughout!

Fantastic work, everyone. That was a very interesting podcast and highlighted a number of important issues.

The insight into have development, not only on general but also among our own members, was an inspirational and informative section. It's great to hear that we have such talented and budding creationists in our community. I'll do my best to carve out some time to read the thread and try out some of your hard work.

Discussing the evolution of the gaming community and its attitude to people (inside and outside of video games) is a tough but important topic and it was very well handled. With regards to the name issue, I think that it was tactfully done as it's hard to put things into context without some history. I knew of the Narcissa's historic accomplishments with the Zelda series but had no idea about the changes that had occurred since I saw a session of Games Done Quick many years ago.

That was an amazing episode and I was so enthralled that I didn't realise how quickly the time went by.

Listened to the latest episode earlier. Thought the focused discussion at the start where everyone could add their knowledge followed by other bits and pieces was a great decision, made the podcast feel fresh and different to other gaming podcasts I've heard.

Well done everyone.

Can't wait for people to listen to this week's podcast where we preview E3 and Nintendo shows none of the stuff we talk about

I think it's what we aimed for with Season 2, but I think with the diversity of the members involved we can tackle more subjects with better insight and points of view than we could previously.

Currently playing xcom 2 with the chosen dlc it's pretty much a semi sequel in this state a sort of xcom 2.5 , thought I'd put this here given I hadn't played it when I did the podcast.

I see that this is dead, but are the E3 episodes ever coming out?

I understand that Karl has got himself a bit snowed under with other things which is why things have gone quiet in this.

If people are still keen on producing podcasts are we in a position where someone else can take the reigns on it, at least until Karl is back to having the capacity required?

The only thing that puts me off is editing when the sounds in multiple channels, if we switched to one channel sound I'd happily host and edit a fortnightly podcast, Im also not too sure how or where to upload it and I'd probably want to take december off as my work load really increases then. That's my thoughts on things.

Wouldn't it be easier with multiple channels, though? Well, for volumes and the like? If people's volumes are all over the shop a single channel would be more awkward to level, wouldn't it?

In total honesty I find single easier to deal with but multiple would probably be better quality, just trying to be honest and not bite off more than I can chew.... As I got better and more experienced I'd think of doing more and pushing the boat out.

That's fair enough.

I'd give it a go, but I don't think I'd have the skill and tbh when I did edit 3 podcast episodes (about 11 years ago) apart from making silences a bit shorter I removed little else, if I was to record and edit the podcast and we spent 2 hours recording the episode would be 1 hour 56 minutes

I'm happy to take part with you all, regardless of who does the recording/editing until Karl comes back. As long as we try our best at delivering entertaining material, I think we'll be A-OK.

I have a lot of ideas for including people and how to maybe get people involved who otherwise might not be able to or feel up to it.

As with you guys, I wouldn't know the first strawberry floating thing about editing a podcast but I'd love to get more involved where possible and have a few ideas about where to go with them. I enjoyed listening to the older ones(though I didn't contribute to the thread at all  ).

I have had a look at the Pre E3 Podcast and I have pushed it all into one channel and I have so far edited 1 hour of it. What format does it need to be in to go up as a podcast and hows it usually put up?

I honestly have no idea who sorts this. It was Devlin. I don't know now.

Looking at the opening post though it seems to be MP3.

I have managed to make a 1hour and 22 minute mono wav file of the podcast ..... There was loads of extra bits at the end which could be turned into even more but I figure as this was a pre E3 discusion it needs to go out

OK it is converted to MP3 and is being uploaded so I can share a link with you all probably before the end of the night..... Now I have to admit its proberbly not edited up to the usual standards for our Podcasts but bear with me I have only ever edited my own no longer existing solo podcasts before so I am a little new at this.
