Tbh I think his early (ie good) stuff is starting to show its age. Pulp Fiction is presented well but the stories are pretty banal and the borked chronology just comes across as a gimmick.

Reservoir Dogs is still great though.

The rest is all mediocre to bad. Kill Bill is self-indulgent wank and Jackie Brown was so tedious I wanted it to end about 50 minutes before if did (and even looked like it was going to about 4 times).

I'll make an exception for Django but since PF all his films have had this "hollow" vibe for me to one extent or another (depends on the film).

I actually liked Death proof - it's shallow but just take it with a pjnch of salt and it's a good romp. It's more watchable than JB that's for sure.

I haven't seen Hollywood but I hope it's as good as its trailer and cast suggest (and better than the reception it gets here).

So is more heat than light going to tot up the scores like he did in the Star Wars ranking thread?

It's bothering me.

The true order;

1. Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. Inglorious Basterds
4. Django Unchained
5. The Hateful Eight
6. Pulp Fiction
7. Jackie Brown
8. Kill Bill Vol 1
9. Kill Bill Vol 2

Haven't seen Death Proof. He's great but I'm not the biggest Tarantino fan except for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I thought that film was excellent and one of my all favourites - I went at saw it at the cinema like 4 times (I never do that) and I've watched it a bunch of times on DVD too. My 2 - 5 I'm very fond of - they're really great films and my 7 - 9 I really didn't care for at all.

Apparently one of the streaming services have broke Hateful 8 into a mini-series. Will have to check that out - it was a great film and episodically seems like a nice way of watching it

Inglorious Basterds above Jackie Brown makes me wince, but yeah it's pretty good overall.

I'm kind of interested in whether Once Upon a time is a that bad or it's just harmed by the fact not many people have seen it. Also I agree with Imrahil.

There were an awful lot of people who didn't rate it. If anyone hasn't ranked a movie then those score bottom points shared equally. So if someone hadn't seen two movies on this list, both those would score 1.5.

I think it's overlong but a very good film, probably about middle position for Tarantino.

It's a bit of divisive movie because it's a bit of a slog and it has a lot of scenes that don't really contribute to the story, which people who don't like slow movies find frustrating. I enjoyed it but I understand people who didn't.
