kerr, you've got a few duplicates - even triplicates! - there, dude. Have you thought about cataloguing your games or wouldn't that be your cup of tea? I'm thinking about doing this with mine.

Once again, it has been great to see your OG Xbox stuff today :-).

I have started cataloguing my stuff a few times but always lost it or messed it up.... Most of the dupes will have cost me like sod all so it doesn't overly worry me, if something was big money id check if I had it first...

Im a disorganized scatter brain lol

I need to get back to logging my collection. I sometimes forget what I have and haven’t got already.

I’ve got a note saved on my phone but I’ve not updated it for ages now.

Excel has a function that lets you import a table from a website so I just import the Wikipedia games lists for each console and then just mark it up with what I have, what I want and what to ignore.

GRcadians of a certain age (i.e. old gits like me) will remember Ocean Software, the huge games publisher most prolific in the 80s and early 90s.

Unfortunately their boss, David Ward, has passed away aged 75. It feels sad that many people involved in the making and marketing of games of that era are now in old age. Thanks for being a part of the great memories of gaming at that time, David!

So I decided to can my Analogue Pocket pre-order yesterday. I figured that as I don't have a massive back catalogue of GBA carts then I'm going to be spending more to get stuff I can actually play. In the end I've decided to go for a Ayn Odin Lite. Partly it's for emulation and supposedly this can do GC but mostly for Gamepass cloud. Seems like a decent bit of kit, was lingering over the Pro model but couldn't justify the extra dosh as I probably wouldn't need it. Did pay for the upgrade on the memory of the Lite though.

Probably posted this somewhere around here before at one point, but anyhow, rediscovered this in one of my folders earlier.

My games table circa 2003.

I hated that wallpaper SO much.

Jesus, the clutter is spectacular.

My setup at the time was equally messy but hidden away in a cupboard unit that my TV (some cheap Philips widescreen with a slightly wonky display) sat atop, the cupboard used to get really hot inside and the cat used to like curling up inside it for hours at a time.

Yep, back then (including the TV and stuff) i had 7 pieces of hardware all wired up, and that's before we get to everything else you see there.

These days i have just 3 (TV, PS4, Blu Ray player).

Now that's quite a setup, Vermi - there is a lot to take in! You sure had a cool range of systems even if the scene is a wee bit cluttered :-).

I'm intrigued by your game shelves on the left... it kinda looks like you have GameCube and PS2 games arranged alternately... PlayStation, Cube, PlayStation, Cube.

Oh! And that Banjo-Kazooie box in the top-right area looks interesting! As is that cup of tea sitting in top of your PS2 which in turn is on top of the video (DVD?) :o .

Great pic!

Edit: I can't quite make out what those white marks (grill?) are at the base of your PS2.

The games on the shelf were arranged by when they were purchased, there wasn't a proper system in place or anything, it was just a bit flukey how they ended up that way.

The white marks i think were just dust in the air vents, there was nothing there which would suggest it was anything else and i don't remember there being any other explanation for it.

Regarding the Banjo box (and the Lylat Wars one just below it), they're actually promotional shop display cubes. I got them by writing to Nintendo's then UK distributer (THE Games) and asked for promo stuff. I still have both of them somewhere, but they were unfolded during the 2005 house move and were never remade, i don't know the condition of them sadly as they ended up behind a cabinet and i don't know if they're still fine, or whether they've been attacked by the dreaded black mould which i have to go into battle against every spring.

I have another pic in the folder too, this one is from 2001 (actually the calendar would suggest that it was either Sept 1st or 2nd, so was approx just 10 days before 9/11)...

Image

When i get time, i will have a look through my old photos to see if there's anything new worth scanning.

Great stuff! I think your model of Panasonic CRT is one that I had at one point, too. You were clearly a Pikachu fan back then, dude!

I was, though i think way too much really.

Because of all the crap i was dealing with at home and in the outside world then, i think in hindsight, collecting pika stuff was some kind of coping mechanism.

Mind you, i did get a hell of a lot of unusual stuff, and quite a lot of it i still have to this day, including the giant fat Japanese import (Tomy branding, not the western hasbro version) pika which sits atop my book pile.

That's such a time capsule of a picture. I wish I had a photo of my old game stand, loaded with all my megadrive stuff.

So this guy @CPL_Games is re-making Jet Set Willy. The scrolling screen setup looks dang amazing (the original was, of course, flick-screen) and the ending in this clip is, for folk of a certain age, a genuine "wow" tech moment!
