How does the physical release of octopath traveller work? Or was that the one you could get from Club Nintendo or print yourself?

There's some strawberry floating wild camera distortion / perspective going on there in those pics

They're Gnedby shelves from Ikea. I spent a week carrying them back one by one from Ikea as we don't have a car and Ikea is only a 20 minute walk. It was hard work

Fair play, that's solid dedication to the storage of your games! :D

Congrats on getting your game room up and running, Orange; it's lovely to be able to get the space to do so.

There are so many interesting items on show and I hope you won't mind if I comment / ask questions about a load of them!

Wow. That was terrific! Hope the rest of the room setup goes well!

Octopath is just a standard physical release, can't remember where I got it but I just found it available on Argos still. As far as I'm aware it wasn't limited or anything.

And yes, the shelves are leaning forwards as they aren't fixed to the wall so that isn't helping (nor is the room being narrow so I can't step back very far from the shelves) but my phone camera has definitely seen better days. It's not so visible on these images because I resized them down and the noise got interpolated away but most photos I take now have what looks like a regular grid of dead pixels across them which I'm guessing is some problem that's developed with the CCD.

Thanks Jawa! Not at all.

jawaX wrote:> I spy your limited edition versions of The Last Story and Ocarina on Wii! The Last Story steelbook is so nice and the Wii Gold Remote is legendary.

The Last Story is up there on my list of favourite JRPGs for sure, I'm glad I got that edition. With Skyward Sword I think the special edition with the wiimote is a pretty standard way of finding it - the controller having integrated motion+ is obviously great and I never had the motion+ addon so getting it was something of a necessity!

jawaX wrote:> I can see your Wii copy of No More Heroes... am I right in thinking you mentioned that you may get the limited collectors editions on Switch?

I received both the Limited Run Games collector's editions just the other week! I'll maybe post up some pictures, the boxes are too large for the shelves but they include physical versions of the games, a steelbook each, a soundtrack CD for each (pretty comprehensive multi-cd releases too), and a book each with some art, a written retrospective, and an interview with Suda51. Helping me get hyped for NMH3! I'd like to get NMH2 on Wii as I never had it and the NMH port for PS3 (which was the first game with some content from the second added).

You also just reminded me that also not included in those closeups but at the bottom of the PS4 shelf is The Silvercase 2425 on Switch, which just came out and you can get physical as a special edition through the NIS Europe store. That's a port of an older Suda51 game and I'm planning on playing it once I'm done with Monster Hunter Stories 2.

jawaX wrote:> Oh, man, you have Mad Max Ripper Edition! :o . I'm genuinely envious; one of my fave games but I only have it digitally.

Not to feed your envy but yeah, it's a great looking steelbook. Properly embossed which is nicer than the cheaper flat printed steelbooks that are relatively common these days. I intend to go back and play the game some more, if I remember right MGSV came out not long after Mad Max which stopped me playing it first time round.

jawaX wrote:> ...and you have the - I think? - special version of The Last Guardian with the slip cover. That looks so neat.

It's a good looking cover for sure. I have Ico + SOTC HD collection on PS3 and that has a really nice looking reversible cover. I only just reversed it back to the standard actually so it lines up better on the shelf. The Ico box art might be my favourite ever.

jawaX wrote:> At first I was getting mad ( ;-) ) about your Switch games not being in order - but then I noticed that you've gone for region/publisher order. That's a cool idea, dude!

Yeah the publisher is quite prominent on Switch cases with them all being the same design so I think it looks good to have them grouped that way - especially for all the Nintendo games. The imports having the title text left-aligned rather than centred also means they look better grouped together.

jawaX wrote:> I spy that collectors edition of Deadly Premonition! I'm so jell...are the badges good?

I still need to play it on Switch! I have the game on PS3 and played a little of it there and was intending to see it through to completion on Switch, but I got it at a busy time. The badges do look great though, I'll share a picture if I remember.

jawaX wrote:> What are the three Japanese Switch titles that you have, Orange?

Katamari Damacy Encore/Reroll, Okami HD, and Monster Hunter XX. Katamari and Okami have English language options and only had digital releases over here which is why I imported them. Monster Hunter XX I bought just before the localisation (Generations Ultimate) got announced and it ended up arriving only a couple of months before the release date for the EU release, so I never actually played it

Ha no worries about your pics mate, I just find visual distortions (I actually experience them myself thanks to my brain) quite interesting.

Like what if someone took images from phones (the lens are often very wide angle to fit people into selfie etc) and then built the furniture that way, it would be some Gaudi-esque postmodern marvel.

Those Switch editions looked awesome and it'd be so cool if you were to showcase them some time, Orange!

I just looked up the steelbook and it does look smart. And, yeah. the game was released on the same day as MGS V, back in 2015! I loved the game right from the off and it remains one of my absolute faves.

That cover is just great. I recall that GAME released a different slipcover for TLG, too, a couple of years ago, which also looked very good. Again, I only have the game digitally. The collectors edition with the statue was terrific. Oh, and the PS3 HD double pack of Ico/SotC sure is excellent - such a lush reversible cover!

The Switch version is pretty good; a patch was released to correct some sound issues. It's still clunky and copies the 360 version rather than the PS3 version (so it hasn't got all of the additional cars and outfits DLC).I've played the opening few hours and enjoyed it; it's still as odd as ever, thankfully! Would love to see the badges whenever you get the time, dude.

This is well worth a look; a wander around a videogame museum in Dallas, US. Boogie2988 is doing the tour - and I'm not gonna get into chat about whether folk love or hate him, I'm only talking about the museum! - and there are so many stunning items. It's great!

I'm moving so obviously the one thing I insist on moving via a giant trunk by hand on the train are my favourite retro consoles, controllers, leads, power bricks and my Sony PVM. After a lot of neck and back breaking strawberry floating around with tangled cables I've got it all bubble wrapped and in the bag and, of course, it must weigh over 40 kilograms. Now I don't want to take anything out of the bag and I'm going to have to drag this thing for about 40 minutes. For strawberry float's sake.

At least two of the windows at the new property don't actually lock properly so until I fix that I'm actually sort it dreading it. :dread:

The idea being at least I can play some games while we're sort of camping there. I've brought metroid prime 2, eternal darkness, REmake and a bunch of multiplayer stuff and some shmups.

Of course the movers are taking the HDTV and ill probably just box up the other consoles in their original packaging.

With the tiny speaker on full and no furniture in the open plan living room/kitchen, it'll probs sound a lot like a tiny arcade with loads of reverb. Heh.

Another +1 for Field Commander being great. It was actually the first time I used the handle "OrangeRakoon" for my profile name - the Orange part being like Orange Star from Advance Wars.

I picked up the neo geo mini International edition at cex new because why not. Turns out it was sealed and they only unsealed it to sell it.

It's pretty neat, for 40 games the value is immense even if its emulated, the game are far more playable even with a tiny joystick which works well. The screen is really good too as its 240p I believe.

After all this time... we get to discover the full origin (orange-in?) story of OrangeRKN :o . Advance Wars + Link's Awakening = OrangeRKN :datass: .

I got a Gameboy Color Pokemon edition console today, loose bit in good condition, the only real complaint is it has the wrong color battery compartment but it cost me £20 so I'm not too worried.

I also grabbed a few other bits.

Wario land 3 for Gameboy color loose cart for £8

Simpsons tree house of horror for Gameboy color loose cart for £4

F1 Race loose cart for Gameboy for £2

And Pinball Advance loose cart for the GBA for £1
