It's the polarizing layer that LCD screen have, which as you can see has been left in direct sunlight for a long time and burned and warped. I bought it knowing this (it was really cheap) so later I need to put some batteries and a cheap game in to see if it works at all, then go from there.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about how this new AdCade project develops! Hopefully it'll be a photo story :toot: .

Tested with a game and it all works. Screen is strawberry floated, although if I wear my polarizing sunglasses and turn the thing on its side, I can see it has no broken pixels or anything, so it might be damaged, it might be another layer that needs removing.

Also, the screen cover has a led hole, but the body itself doesn't. I read up on it, and the first run of GBP didn't have a battery LED indicator, so this is an early model and that screen is a replacement.

Yikes, that's a mess. New IPS screen and shell should be good though. I'm also looking at a picking up a cheap pocket, colour, and og advance to do up. Still need to finish my DMG project though

It was a pawn store, I like the place and they talk to me a lot these were all new bits they'd got in and they offered it me as a bundle to save themselves labelling it all up and displaying the games etc.

...lovely item, Vermilion! I dunno if it's playable in English (?) but it's still so super-cool for Pokemon collectors.

Id imagine if you have played a lot of red and blue in English then youd proberbly get through it from memory.... I used to go to school with a lad who played all the arc the Lad games in Japanese he couldnt read any of it , he had kind of worked out yes and no sort of stuff so he could save and such but he basically just pushed through it, which is pretty darn impressive pre proper internet.

Yeah, I guess that keen Poké players would get a feel for the menus and options from the English versions, kerr.

At the time i did actually give it a go, but there wasn't an english language option on this edition and so i wasn't able to get very far.

I was wondering about retro game prices that seem to have increased loads recently. Cex prices seem more ridiculous then before and even things like Facebook marketplace have people asking stupid prices for old consoles and games.
Saw this on YouTube which talks about fraud and manipulation behind rising prices and million dollar games, was very insightful

I ordered a load of bits today, and I'm currently in for £150 :fp:

Plus I need to not only buy a soldering iron, but also learn how to solder too

Basic soldering isn't too tricky to pick up.

I'd not picked up a soldering iron in over 20 years but I was able to mod my famicom to add a new PSU and AV-Out port earlier on in the year.

Just look for some Youtube tutorials and try and practice on something first if you can.

Thanks, yeah I'll look for some little practice kits or something. It's really a skill I should have anyway.

Yeah, I can do basic soldering. I had to desolder a Bivert chip I'd cackhandedly half-soldered to my DMG which fortunately still works, must get around to finishing that mod!

All of my gameboy bits have arrived. Strangely they've sent a second shell which has the battery in, so I've got one to practice on I suppose.

Just need to buy a soldering iron kit now, and then learn how to solder, and not break all the bits as they're tiny.

Nice. But: there has been a disappointing lack of news about The Powerpuff Girls and how it plays.

I've been pressing F-5 daily hoping to see whether it still stands up.
