Those original 2D Duke games always get a bit overshadowed by Duke 3D, but they were decent platform shooters in their own right.

This is out today!

Not retro as such, but are you getting Goodboy Galaxy for evercade Rinks?

I bought the GBA ROM off itch and for a GBA title it has superb animation. Game is really good too, the hook is each area is split into sections, and for each section one of your powers gets disabled (so no shield/high jump/gun) and you have to navigate the area while handicapped so to speak.

It's coming to evercade and GBA (you can buy the rom to emulate which I did but I think they're printing their own GBA carts as well).

Not explaining well but eh just watch this

Yes, that was delivered yesterday! I only had time for a very brief look. The font and presentation are pure GBA but absolutely stunning. Looking forward to playing it properly. Amazing to be playing a new GBA game in 2023! On Evercade it comes on a dual cart with Witch n’ Wiz, which I’ve played on Antstream but is much better suited to the small screen.

Saw a Anbernic handheld I liked the look of in a pawn shop today for £45 asked to have a quick look and mess with it to see what I thought, it crashed 4 times during the 5 minutes I was looking at it so I decided not to get it as the place runs a sold as seen policy and I didn't want to get stuck with a lame duck, proper disappointed though.

More C64 goodness coming to Evercade, in the third collection. Includes some of my favourites in Paradroid, Exolon and Boulder Dash!

Turns out Alien Resurrection on PS1 has a cheat code that allows you to boot burnt CDs.

Good to know....

I would think so.

Apparently only one or two people knew it was there and they never disclosed it to Sony at the time.
It's the remnant of a disc swap test.

I don't imagine it's going to beat any region locks, so you'd be limited to the region of the system. I'm not sure how multi-disc games would work? As long as they save before disc swaps I imagine it would be fine.

The game would have sold a hell of a lot more.

I imagine it could work on PS2 as well, assuming you can trick the drive sensor.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gains value now, if anyone wants to mess around with this and doesn't own a copy I'd grab one now.

Adding that to my car boot/charity shop list of things to look out for, eBay prices are already going up.

Not sure about the original PS2 but I know the slim PS2 drive sensor can be tricked, that's how I played the Japanese version of Katamari Damacy (using a boot disc).

Discovered that some people have made authentic OG Gameboy screen filters for the miyoo mini+ (the included ones are crap).

It looks so good :datass:

As you can see, I'm playing links awakening for that ultimate nostalgia hit. Also played some tetris and Mario land.

It's very good. Also been applying some CRT shaders for PlayStation games which work really well.

This seems as good a place as any for this - I'm looking at making a small display of some of my retro games on a book shelf type unit I have in my games room. The original intent was to just have my racing stuff out, but as you can see from this photo I actually have far more than I realised (that's two layers high of ps1 games on the left). I have nothing to actually stand them up with so there's a very high chance of my fragile cases all toppling over and smashing if the unit gets bumped (which is quite likely). Anyone got reccomendations for some multi purpose individual stands? The ones i have seen all seem really over engineered acrylic jobs which are pretty expensive. I really only need fold out type stands that can stop the various sized stuff toppling over. Maybe some tiered bits to make ones at the back be higher. Who knows.

(Excuse the random books). I may also make each part something specific, maybe a dedicated ps1 part, maybe some gameboy stuff, who knows.

I got the SG35XX and it’s really nice. The buttons are wonderfully clicky and the screen really pops. Whilst I can appreciate that some people might like the options Retroarch and GarlicOS give you honestly I thought they were both arse. All I want a console for is to play games: anything that is a barrier to that is a hindrance. The default OS more than does the job.

First thing is to decide exactly what you want to display. It maybe looks like you've got a bit too much on there (although I know you're still using the shelf for actual storage!)

Second thing might be to reconsider the unit itself as I think the partitions make it harder for you to display exactly what you want how you want it. This could be as simple as removing them and placing a decorative covering underneath your collection to hide the empty screw holes, or using white screw hole caps.

In terms of the stands, have you considered making them yourself? The base of the game box already forms two thirds of a tripod so all you need is a third leg (chortle!) and the boxes should be stable. If you imagine a narrow ribbon of sheet metal (10mm plus in width) - bend one end to be flush with the box when it's the angle you want, then affix it (see below). You can then bend the other end to make a little foot for stability.

This pack of balloon dots are like the gum you get on the back of a new credit card and might make it so you can attach a home made stand directly to the case without any damage. I wouldn't use this with a paper case but the plastic ones should be fine.
