£95 seems reasonable for that many games

I knew the going CEX rate for the Switch games Zelda Links Awakening is £30, Arms is £22 and Survivalist is £15 so I kept that in mind at the time ... Fire Pro I am also thinking is about a tenner so knowing that I felt pretty confident it was a decent deal the chap offered me.

Been reading a pdf version (my brother bought the hardback and got a pdf version with it) of Bitmap Books' ?A Guide to Japanese Role Playing Games and I'm really impressed with the sheer amount of content and info about some of the more obscure stuff.

Great stuff.

Yeah, I'm a big admirer of the stuff that Bitmap Books have published, Ironhide. I have four books in the "visual compendium" series (Commodore 64, Spectrum, Amiga and Master System) and the Gremlin history (a popular game developer in the 80s and early 90s) and they're all super quality.

I'm excited about the Mega Drive / Genesis visual compendium due later this year :toot: .

I think I could be tempted to get the upcoming one about CRPGs and the illustrated version of H.G Wells' War of the Worlds but I'd only be able to read the included pdfs so maybe I'd use them as Christmas/birthday gifts (or just keep them as collectors items).

Dang, man, sorry that you can't use the book versions, Ironhide. As you say, they are nice collectibles and maybe you would be able to mainly view the PDFs and then occasionally look over the books if you had some assistance?

Also got a joystick for the C64 Mini boxed for £5

I recently stumbled across a YouTube channel called retrosutra and they do fantastic comparison vids of games on differing systems. It's great to see how games were tailored to the strengths - and drawbacks! - of the formats, especially in the 80s and 90s where tech could really vary. Highly recommended!

Today was a day of buying a far bit of stuff

Image

So these loose carts are Super Street fighter 2 American for £8 ,ECW hardcore for GBC for £1 , Stunt Race FX for £4, a Microsoft puzzle collection for £1, JaJa Maru for Famicom £3. I am sure the shop had priced Street Fighter wrong as they wanted £10 for a US copy of World Warrior.

Image

Grabbed these 4 original xbox games for £1 each all of them have manuals, there in Ok condition could be better.

Image

Grabbed these 4 ps3 games for £3 in total.

Image

And I Grabbed these 3 games for £2 in total.

My brother recently bought one in Kyoto and modded it to make music.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

That's sick

I keep fawning over the mister project (fpga hardware emulation) but I just know I'm not sensitive enough to input lag to appreciate it over software emulation, nor do I have any CRT screens to take advantage of the RGB output. Very expensive once you add up all the parts as well, nevermind the fact that the main FPGA board is rarely in stock.

One day

I'm off to a local retro gaming event in a couple of weeks NERG (North East Retro Gaming). They have a mix of arcade cabinets, pinball machines and retro consoles to play on plus a gaming market. It's the first time the event has been held since 2019 and I'm really looking forward to it. Hoping to bag a couple of bargains for my XBOX collection although from experience prices tend to be a little higher at these kind of events over what you might pay in say CeX or Cash Generator.

I went to something similar in Nottingham just before COVID and enjoyed it, the price for boxed stuff was high but various stalls had some great stuff in there bargain bins so worth looking at the stuff to the side of the table etc

Action Fighter is one of my favourite Master System games, having loved Spy Hunter in the arcades.
