On top of the horrific concept, it looked really poorly made, too. Just a piss poor job all round.

Yeah it was utterly awful from concept through to execution.

It's even worse as far as I'm concerned because there are so many ways to customise and revamp older consoles. Handhelds especially have some really nice things you can do with them.

This looked like something you'd get from a well meaning relative who knows you like the "Nintendo PlayStation Drive". It's a gaming product designed by someone with no interest or knowledge of games beyond "I played some FIFA on the megadrive once" and without the skill or talent to make it look good.

Even if you really have to take them to pieces, there would be some great ways to display them in some form. Not just smash them into bits

Once I saw the GBA SP in 2 pieces, I knew it was going to be a disaster.

Except its a going 40s guy with a ponytail and lots of workspace but strawberry floating horrible ideas and no design sensibility. Wow that's bad.

I'd have built a nice table, maybe a game themed shape yeah but epoxy or glass over it with the consoles still functioning, maybe a pop up LCD display. It's also created dead space behind the desk where you can't place anything. Terribad design strikes again.

I know what my desk is missing is a 4 socket plug adapter on the top of the desk. I wish I could stop having so much space on my desk and it was just plugs and cables instead.

I decided to get an Evercade around January I was really just about to click buy and then I thought what am I doing is it really worth it etc, in the end I decided no and grabbed a PowKiddy Q90 instead, it only cost me £30 and came with a whole heap of games on it and the best thing is if your even a little tech savy you can add your own roms onto it. It comes with megadrive, mastersystem , gameboy advance snes and even ps1 games on it but the ps1 dont work that great. Since then I have had a brief go with a evercade in pawn store and yeah I am glad I didn't go down that route there ok and all but don't feel any better than a good knock of Chinese console dpad and button wise etc and it would just be a load of carts id end up buying when id rather spend the cash on old retro games for there original hardware. Heres my video of the Powkiddy ive tried other consoles but this is the Chinese one I stand by really on a power to cash ratio (if you want super powerful you can pay more but this ones in the sweet spot of cheap and yet decently powerful.)

For £25 I'll give it a punt (alibaba). Looks like a nice and easy way to play GBA games and I fancy a bit of that.

It's definitely worth £25 , I grabbed 2 of them in the end , one as a present for my bro who used to be a hardcore gamer but is too busy nowdays, and one for myself. First thing I'd do is put the micro sd in a pc and get rid of the ps1 games they take up lots of room and don't run so good, then you can throw loads of older stuff on it, it's very very good for playing megadrive stuff on.

That desk job was painful, I didn’t expect it to be that bad.

I picked up a boxed copy of the Megadrive Classic Collection missing it's manual for £15 (the Megadrive cart with 4 games on) , I decided I wanted to get Gunstar Heroes for the Megadrive instead of playing it off an Ever drive and this was the cheapest way to do it, not sure if it was kind of just a silly whim already having it on the ever drive and steam and various other discs and downloads.

Evercade related...

Uses the existing carts and can use the handheld as a controller.

Might pick one up myself down the line actually.

Been enjoying my PS1 games, I play them on retroarch on my pc but I like be able to rip my games and play them that way.

Sadly I do not win bug life bid, someone bidded at last minute but I did manage to buy bug life and 3 other games in bundle because seller made me a offer, all of that less than tenner so yay

So far one that has most playtime is Croc, I love it even if tank controls are so janky

I tried ripping some of my own PS1 games for my brother to stick on his PS mini but I couldn't get it to work properly.

Don't really know what I was doing wrong in all honesty.

The ps mini works?

Are you sure it wasn't that.

I got all the necessary custom firmware installed and managed to get downloaded roms working on it but just couldn't get the ones I'd ripped from my own games to work, I must have misread the instructions for ripping the disc imaages or something but as I managed to acquire the same roms elsewhere I didn't bother trying again.

I've been using Imgburn and it gives me .bin files rather than iso, but it works with Retroarch so I'm not sure what's up.

Although it turns out one of my games was bad rip, it'd load for ever so I'll have to look into that tomorrow. Wasn't a game I was interested in anyway (The Italian Job) - was in bundle with Bug Life/Tomb Raider which I wanted more.
