if so blooming heck I think I have 2 loose carts of it an old one of mine and one I grabbed from a pawn store for like 15ish quid

The other day my daughter was rooting through my loose carts going ''why do you have 2 pokemon yellow and 3 red etc etc'' Now I can say cause they might be worth more than gold during a pandemic j/k lol

When it comes to my Pokemon games I've got Blue, Silver, Crystal, Sapphire and Diamond all complete and in nicer condition than that.

I always assumed Paper Mario or Burning Rangers was the most valuable individual game I had, but Pokémon Crystal might have it beat.

Yeah, you want to be picking up a boxed copy of a Pokémon game and keeping it in good condition.

I think it's a combination of Nintendo games holding their price, the games being out of print and the games being desirable today. They obviously have a large fan base too. A lot of people who grew up with the series are now adults with disposable income to splash on rarities too.

The "third" versions usually came out at the end of a console's lifespan and probably didn't sell anywhere near as well/have big print runs due to being a niche product (they were often very similar to the original two games).

Sadly like I said, I only bought two third versions - I have a boxed Emerald I actually bought from eBay around 2006 (I hope its real, it certainly looks it and I never had any problems with the game) and a copy of White 2 I got when it was "cheap", around £20 on Amazon.

I reckon the latter might be worth a bit. Again, it came out in 2012/2011 I think, when the 3DS was already around. And weren't the original B/W the worst selling Pokémon games?

I wonder what my GBC/GBA Pokémon games are like now. I stacked them in my cupboard so the cardboard may have wear and tear. I think the glue dried on one box and needs to be re-applied and stuck down.

When I get back to the UK I might try and find a PAL copy of Soul Silver to go with my PAL Gold and JP Silver, but I'll need to throw cash at it to get one I'd imagine.

Same with Platinum, which I'd also quite like.

Original Gold/Silver had internal batteries on the cart that are all dead now

It is the same generation, though I have no idea if they changed the batteries.

I think you can replace the batteries yourself right? I don't know if you do this one and modern batteries can be used Indefinitely, or if its something you have to keep doing.

I remember at uni my mate telling me about how his decade-old Silver had died, but mine was still miraculously working. It caught up to me in the end though a few years later. My brave, brave Pokeymans. Goodnight.

I think you can yeah although unless you have some sort of gadget to backup your save changing the battery will still lose it

Hey folks, this might be a really weird and impossible to quantify question, but is there a list anywhere(or does anyone know!) of N64/NGC Magazine's reviews from lowest scoring to highest?

Reason I ask is that I'm running a series of Twitch streams on Thursday nights where I play through some of the utterly strawberry floating woeful games in my N64 (and shortly, GameCube) collection and score them, and it's been a lot of fun to read out some of N64's brutalising reviews to my hard core of, err, half a dozen watchers. It'd be nice to know which games I should be targeting next and also which horrible games I need to actually buy for future reviews!

So far we've done:

Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics - 1/10
Carmageddon 64 - 2/10
Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker - 3/10
Cruis'n USA - 3/10

I have every single NGC/N64 issue bar one but, erm, they are in the UK so can't grab a photo of the Review Directory bit.

I also, erm, owm Waialae Golf as well. My Dad had a golf game on my Mega Drive and liked it, so he foolishly picked up that one in the early days of the N64. It only had one course and probably looked worse than the MD title.

If you have access to "the drive" there's 98/120 issues of N64 and NGC. Might be worth a look there.

I'll look into that Dev, but have absolutely no scooby as to what "the drive" is. Am I being an idiot?

I got mine for £3 in a second hand shop in Newcastle on a stag do a few years back. Woeful game, but it brought me one closer to the ultimate goal of all 239 UK released PAL games so it was worth the money.

Minor N64 update - Cruis'n USA cart, £12 off eBay.

I’ve been on a bit of a Sega phase recently. I have one credit clears on Sega Ages Thunder Force IV and Space Harrier. I’m looking to try for a no death run on Thunder Force IV to get the big no miss score bonus. Also played and completed Sega Ages Phantasy Star last year.

Been playing mega drive classics a lot also. Put some time into Phantasy Star II and Shining in the Darkness (still need to go back and finish them).

Also been playing the action titles in the collection. Alex Kidd in Enchanted Castle is uninspired, easy and morning. Shadow Dancer is good! I’ve put Sega Ages Shinobi on my future to buy list. I might go and sweep the other 2 mega drive shinobi games while I’m at it.

I’m finding myself wanting a mega drive again but I don’t have access to or room for a crt at this flat right now so it can wait.

You could get a Megadrive classic Mini and hack it, they look great on modern TV's and you'd have access to the whole library with a bit of messing about and no real room. I love my Megadrive and all the games I own but it does take up a whole load of room.

I have Thunder Force IV on cart and I can't even clear it on easy, I haven't even looked up the last stages.

When I reached one stage I was so excited I took a photo.

I have ordered two counterfeit SNES Repro carts that I saw for 4.80 each with free postage Swat Kats and Daze before Christmas, basically because I wanted to look at some Reproductions and look at doing a YouTube video about it and these were the cheapest two I could get, I even looked at the cost of building my own repros and when I priced that up even the cheapest way to do it was going to cost me a whole load more, its expensive when you have to go into main board, programmed chips , a cart to put them in and then if you want extras like a label etc (its cheaper if your willing to destroy a real game like buy a cheap fifa to use the main board and the case but I dont agree with doing that).
