I watched a couple of films last night, bringing my current total up to three.

> Jean Reno was in Ronin, which also starred Robert De Niro.
> Robert De Niro was in The Deer Hunter, which also starred Christopher Walken.
> Christopher Walken features in Pulp Fiction, which also features Steve Buscemi (very briefly). Pulp Fiction is the film that I've already seen before in this list.

Today, I'll be watching Fargo. No idea where I'll go from there though...

Kevin Bacon was in Hollow Man with Elisabeth Shue. Elisabeth Shue was in Back to the Future 3 with Mary Steenburgen. Mary Steenburgen was in Philadelphia. That's my basic task sorted, but the one film I needed to buy arrived today, so I just have to watch the other three now.

Heads up: Total Recall on Blu-Ray is only £6.98 on Amazon, and it's got a £7 trade in value at CEX if you don't like it (I think I will though, I've heard about the multi-titted bird  )

Despite passing it everytime I get a lift to and from Newcastle, this is the first time I've bothered to go up to it...and I was actually quite impressed, standing up close.

Task GET!

This is surely the most famous landmark thus far visited. Bravo.

For my 3 degrees I shall be watching:

Revolver (Ray Liotta) > Wildhogs (Ray Liotta and Martin Lawrence) > National Security (Martin Lawrence)

Should hopefully be done with those tonight.

Back from adventurous day's shopping.

New Look

I've wanted a nice jacket for a long time, and with Uni starting next week there couldn't be better time to get one. Unfortunately the resized image doesn't do it much justice, but it's definitely something I'll be wearing all the time

and here is proof of purchase

3 Degrees of Kevin Bacon

I first watched Memoirs of a Geisha, starring my favourite actress of all time - Zhang Ziyi. Zhang Ziyi also stars in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - one of my favourite films - and her co-star, Chow Yun Fat stars in Curse of the Golden Flower.

I request bonus points for the fact that, through actress Hong Li, Curse of the Golden Flower can be linked to Memoirs of a Geisha and therefore creates an eternal loop of Kevin Bacon connections. I am not expecting to receive these bonus points.

Creative Writing

For my writing I have decided to review one of my unseen films from the task above: Curse of the Golden Flower.

Curse of the Golden Flower, starring semi-known Chinese actors Chow Yun Fat (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Bulletproof Monk) and Hong Li (Memoirs of a Geisha), is the story of a 10th century Chinese Emperor and his struggle for power within his own house. Like many Chinese films CotGF features a mix of Imperial politics infused with martial arts and love affairs. Whilst this formula has proven successful for other films such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Jet Li's Hero the overlying story in CotGF is somewhat lacking, which for a film focusing more on dialogue than action doesn't provide the best results. What little action there is is of a reasonable standard, although - with the exception of zip-wiring ninjas - nothing you won't have seen before. What does make the film stand out from others in the genre is the amazing set and costume design. Gold, yellow and purple are dominant in every scene making even the dullest parts come to life and the clash of blood red and Chrysanthemum yellow in the final showdown creates a beautiful image. I'd find the film hard to recommend to anyone who doesn't enjoy these kind of films or has no interest in Chinese culture but those who do should find something to like even if they will have seen the majority of it before.

Well done John Galt, you have two Task GET!s there.

The movie task isn't quite done though. You see, Zhang Ziyi as the starting actor in the chain must not also be in the next film in the sequence. You really need a Chow Yun Fat film without her in to continue the sequence.

Is my one ok, Tasky?

Don't want to start it and find out I've done it wrong.

IDGI. Surely Zhang Ziyi is what connects Memoirs of a Geisha to CTHD? Otherwise there'd be no connection (apart from Michelle Yeoh also starring in both films, but that's just a coincidence).

Yeah, same problem here.

In an ideal world it would be:

film with Ray Liotta and Martin Lawrence ---> film with Martin Lawrence and whoever -----> film with whoever and someone

Sorry, I got confused. I thought Chow Yun Fat was in Memoirs, which would have ruined it. Task GET!
