With France going on the quarantine list, that changes everything. Except it doesn't. Just means during the French part of the trip we will have to distance ourselves from all French people. But since Brexit, this is the norm anyway. C'est la vie.

I saw something on the news about it this morning with some little posh kiddie whos staying in France with friends, but they've been keeping away from people on purpose, saying he'll still have to isolate (rightly so). They then said you cant get around it by going back via germany or something, beucase youve still been to France. strawberry float knows.

Not the full route, as google maps ran out of "add destinations"

Have you been to Bologna? If not I'd suggest making the trip as you are relatively nearby looking at the map route (apparently about 1hr 40 from Venice). Bologna trumps both Venice and Verona in that area. Looks straight forward to Milan from there too, meaning you could grab some balsamic vinegar from Modena on the way  . Also, are you actively aiming for Milan or is it just the route to get out of Italy? By all accounts there's nothing there other than a nice cathedral.

Looks like you are going through the Villnöß and the dolomite mountains too. I always wanted to go there when I lived in Italy but didn't get the chance :(

Not done Bologna before, I'd probably do it as a city break though, rather than as part of a camping road trip. We were even going to miss out Venice, but this will be the only time Venice will be empty, plus the two previous times we visited we didn't make it out to either Murano or Burano, so we want to do that this time.

You're right, it is just the road to Maggiore that takes us past Milan, I'll probably take the scenic route though and skirt the lakes to the north.

The thing about the Dolomites is they aren't on the way to anywhere. You have to go "I want to go to the Dolomites" then go to the Dolomites. Which is what we are doing :D

Going to be staying here http://www.campingedenfalcade.com/estate/en/index.html

Just noticed your route on the map takes you on the E40 through Belgium via the Brussels Ring.

I don't know if you know the area, but if not, be prepared for big queues if you hit it at the wrong time.

Before you get there though, i highly recommend popping into P&J's near Oostende (just a couple of mins from the motorway), their stuff is amazing.

Yeah, I know all about Brussels' Ring. Still makes me wince. Looking at it today on Google maps, with traffic enabled, all I can see are angry red lines, throbbing their way around Brussels.

Past experience has made me want to avoid Brussels, so we are getting the evening ferry, drive onto Lille, stay the first night in an F1 motel then get on the E42 via Mons then onto Malmedy - Cochem. This means no can do with Oostende, at least on the way out. Might hit it on the return journey though, along with Plopsaland (the signs for this place always make me laugh, but not as much as Wank in Germany)

I've heard of Plopsaland, would often see flyers for it when staying in Bruges and Ypres, but yeah, Wank in Germany made me burst out laughing the first time i saw the signs for it.

Am in Paris for the next 5 days. Spent the last month in Slovakia, with Friday night in Prague with a friend I made through work. Back to Prague for a short week job soon, then probably travel around to see some people.

It's a lot more scatter shot than my usual approach to travelling, but after 4 months trapped in the UK it feels so goddamn good to be out in the world again. Ideally I won't be back until Christmas at the earliest, but that's depending on how work pans out (Covid has thrown a major spanner into those works).

Love Paris, absolutely adored my visits to the eiffel tower and arc de triomphe last year.

Wanted to go back this year (as i never got around to visiting the louvre), but it wasn't to be sadly.

Yeah. Primarily I stick to camps as I like to bounce around, and the intensity of experience can be a lot of fun. If only it paid better, but then my lifestyle is cheap enough that I actually make pretty decent money out of it. I normally would have some stuff lined up for the Autumn but bastard Covid means I have to look into new places.

This road trip is turning into logistical nightmare. :dread:

So our first night is supposed to be in a F1 motel in France, but with France threatening to make UK citizens go into quarantine, that might make that unfeasible. Belgium is out of the question, as we plan on staying in Slovenia and Belgium is on Slovenia's "Red" list. Slovenia says if you are transiting to Croatia you can't stay overnight, but I think that depends on the interpretation of transiting. On the way back, because we will have been in Croatia, Italy will give us either 36hrs or 48hrs to leave, not sure, as different places give different info. So we are going to pretend we have only been in Slovenia. And again France on the way back, our plans to stay in the Vosges are thrown into confusion.

Nice relaxing holiday... :slol:

Also, this is probably what we can look forward to when travelling in a post Brexit world. Great.

Jesus :dread:

Not only that, but you're going to be constantly aware of needing to keep up with all these nuances.

Keeping Up with the Nuances sounds like a piss-weak Brexit sitcom.

Anyone else sat waiting on refunds from places for trips that were cancelled due to Covid?

This is my honeymoon situation with Virgin.

Bloody ridiculous how long it's taking.

If they pay it on the 20th of September that's 118 days they've taken to give me a refund for a holiday.

They'll be holding on to it to try and keep themselves from going completely under. Congrats Joer, you've bankrupted Virgin Atlantic. Are you happy now?

Yeah, kind of. Bastards deserve it for holding on to my money for so long.
