Has anyone ever booked a holiday through Expedia? Was it hassle-free and straightforward?

Business or pleasure? I'm thinking of going to either Rome, Milan or Florence for a long weekend later in the year.

Time to resurrect this beast.

I'm looking for somewhere to go for a week, as I need to use up some holiday at work.

No real budget or anything, but obviously the cheaper the better.

Can anyone recommend good places for a winter week away?

Anyone been to Norway, thinking of going to see the Northern Lights next year starting from the bottom and gradually travelling up.

Anybody done anything of the sort or got recommendations/advice?

I haven't been to Norway, but I've heard good things. There's a cruise I'd like to do that takes you round the fjords.

Northern lights are brilliant. One of the few positives of the time I was in the army was being outside at night and looking at the pretty colours. Made it a lot bearable the times you had to be outside. :D

They're best during the winter, however, and definitely best the further north you go. And it is cold there during the winter.

As for a winter week (Lotus): Try a ski resort in Sweden/Norway? Sweden will most likely be much cheaper.

Booked a flight to Chicago for over the New Year, which is set to be amazing. Got in my ESTA application before they started charging a tenner for it too. 8-)

I've been to:

Norway
Sweden (twice)
Denmark (both passing through and proper vacations)
Germany (a few times)
England (London, Newcastle, Scarborough)
Spain (Gran Canaria and Mallorca, though never on the mainland as an adult)
Italy (Rome, twice. We stayed in the same village the Everybody loves Raymond episode was shot)
USA (Texas)

As a < 2 year old, I've also been to France, Luxembourg, Holland and Belgium in addition to some of the countries already mentioned.

Not a hell of a lot of countries then but then I've paid for about half the trips, as we used to spend the summer in a summer house thing we have.
