I don't have any Madrid tips sorry - went with hard drinking mates so wasn't my usual touristy style trip. Saw basically strawberry float all. Took the train to Toledo which was worth it, really cool unique city. The main park in Madrid was worth a visit too, really nice statues.

The food was so good. Those pastries :datass: :datass: :datass: Loved the little Ginjinha shops too, and it was dirt cheap. The piri piri chicken place we found on our last day was amazing, it just did spit cooked chicken and chips, hardly anything else. Just brought us a big plate of chicken and chips with a few beers, then it was so good that we ordered and other half chicken as soon as we were nearly done.

Nice, I'm off to Portugal next month and will fly out of Lisbon. I've been meaning to go for ages so looking forward to it - especially for the sandwiches.

We're flying into Porto, then a day trip to Braga, then the Duoro Valley for some wine tasting, down to Coimbra, then Lisbon with some day trips to Sintra and the beaches nearby. Feels like ages since I've had a proper holiday.

We just booked a week away for the start of May. First holiday away with the baby, have gone for a nice all inclusive hotel with the plan of doing as little as possible for a week. Not my usual style but it is needed.

And my in laws are coming :dread:

I've also heard that you've been loading your projection couresel for 24 hours now.

That rambling treck through the diesel decks must have been quite something.

I love the story of rimmer taking the skutters on a ramble and them killing themselves.

So having not left the country since Nov 2019 thanks to the pandemic and having a baby, I've finally got some cool stuff lined up.

We've got a family holiday to an all inclusive resort in Tunesia at the end of this month and then I have have a stag in San Sebastian in June and another in May that's looking like
it will be Portugal. And I'm also just about to book to go to Copenhagen in the summer to visit a couple of Uni friends and go to a dance festival there.

There's nothing like that first proper holiday away. Taking off for our trip was a real yyyeeeEEEEESSSSSS moment. Getting to the resort, being checked in and then getting to a bar was almost a in tears moment.

I really don't get out much and feel I miss out on parties and nightlife etc in general so I'm going to book myself a week on the Las Vegas strip to make up for it :D aka party land. I can honestly say its my favourite holiday destination in the world by miles!! I know it's not like a real normal city and its can be very fake depending on how you look at it. But that is what makes it so unique and why its my favourite city in the world. I mean look at the amazing hotels/casinos and how they are themed...just incredible. I actually think I prefer Caesars Palace over to the real Rome :fp: :slol: and who needs to go to the real Venice when you have the incredible Venetian resort? 8-)

Started planning our next road trip. We skipped Europe last year and did Scotland instead, so we have a lot to make up for!

Got a vague idea of the route, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland then finally France.

You've never been to Venice, have you?

Spent a really great week in Split, Croatia earlier this month, can absolutely recommend it, especially if you like Roman archaeology (I was there for a Roman archaeology conference). Lovely weather, lovely food, amazing Roman and medieval architecture (Diocletian's palace is mindblowing), nice beaches, pretty towns and villages to travel to nearby, cheap, nicest Spar I've ever been in.

How insensitive of me, of course you haven't. Lots of raft danger around every corner.

How was the frog museum?
That is my one regret in life, is not visiting the frog museum when I was in Split.
