We did Morroco in August so we're sadly experienced in the "being wrung out like a sponge" experience.

If anyone has done Japan - did they do the Ghibli museum and is it worth the effort if so?

I'd also be interested in knowing this…and maybe the best way to get there. Can you use the JR rail pass get the train over?

Another Japan question, I'm looking at the best way of getting from Narita airport to Edogawa where my hotel is, and then from central Tokyo (wherever the Shinkansen arrives in from Kyoto - Tokyo station I think) to Haneda. I keep hearing about a 'limousine bus' from Nartia to Edogawa, and then I'm thinking the monorail from Tokyo to Haneda (but you have to get a regular train for a stop or two first before you get to where the monorail goes from, by the looks of it). Can anyone shed some light on these and what might be the best option?

thinking of doing a US trip in December. extremely early plans were to do some combination of Las Vegas/Grand Canyon/New Mexico/Texas.
has anyone been/recommend anything? we're travel novices and have done absolutely no research planning yet

Grand Canyon to Vegas is relatively straightforward. If you're driving it then I'd definitely recommend Death Valley too, it's superb and better than both in my opinion - it was the unexpected highlight of my time in the US and the main visitor stuff is all on the Vegas side (probably a couple of hours away).

I don't know much about the other two, but we drove to GC from San Deigo and were within twenty yards of the Mexican border just on the outskirts of California. Looks like El Paso in New Mexico is about the same distance from the Grand Canyon as SD so it's definitely doable I'd say(about a 7-8 hour drive, we busted it out in a day no problem).

How long are you going for? If you just want to see the sights of Vegas it can be done in a day easily and Grand Canyon is only a couple of hours away from it - again, I wouldn't spend more than a day there, it's beautiful but...well, it's a big canyon. You don't need any more time than that.

We took a helicopter from Vegas to Grand Canyon. It was pricey (£250+ each) but an amazing experience. Flew over the Hoover Dam and our pilot played the Jurassic Park theme as we flew into the canyon and landed. Great view of the strip when we flew back too.

Our wedding trip was all around that area. I'll put a proper post together on Sunday with photos and where we went.

I went on a solo holiday to Berlin this week. It was my first time in Germany (besides when connecting flights). Had a great time! I did all the tourist hotspots:

Brandenburger gate
WWII/Holocaust memorial
Berlin Wall (Eastside and memorial)
Checkpoint Charlie

Foodwise I ate a lot of currywurst, kababs (best kababs ever with really crispy bread), frankfurters lol

I plan to go to Paris and Rome as my next city breaks :)

Have you been there before? If not, then do all the tourist stuff (Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Empire State, Times Square etc). If you have been before then what did you enjoy while you were there?

The Berlin kebabs are delicious. They are good here in Hamburg but the Berlin ones are something else. Shame the UK ones are still so average on the whole.

Berlin is a good city though. Not my favourite, and I can see why people wouldn't like it, but I really enjoyed my short visit. I'll probably head back soon as I've not been for a few years.

I can give you some good Rome recommendations when you go.
