The Teesside to Amsterdam flight has gone up in price a LOT lately, it's not uncommon for the Teesside to Amsterdam flight to be over £300 these days (My dad takes that flight a lot with work and my mum often takes it to go see him if he's working in Holland). I'm getting rather unimpressed by KLM lately really, they charge full chartered airline prices but increasingly lean towards budget airline treatment (Ie no checked bag unless you pay extra) unless you fly with them so much you've got at least Gold membership level with their rewards program. You're right that it's a great link though. (Off topic there are rumours that Easyjet may be looking at moving from Newcastle to Teesside as they've had a lot of disagreements with Newcastle Airport lately)
I did take a look at Manchester Airport but prices weren't coming up that much different, and were going out at around 6am so it would need an overnight stay somewhere (Or just spending a night bumming around the airport all night). I am actually going from Manchester for my Florida trip in September, partly for direct flights, partly because it was actually £400 cheaper.
Heathrow train tickets can get pretty expensive from up here depending on the times of travel, so any savings can end up just being absorbed by that instead.

And yep, theme parks is the aim. Got a bit of a bug after Disneyland Paris last month. I'm not giving up on California just yet, but I may take a trip there next year for my Birthday around March, which gives a lot more time for researching flights/hotels rather than trying to book it last minute.
My brothers friend has just come back from Gardaland and had really good things to say about it, plus with the Movieland park nearby (Which looks very 'Universal-ish') and a water park attached to that it seems like a good prospect, especially when I can get it all in for about £800 (Flights/4 Star Hotel in Gardaland for 5 nights/Park tickets).

Booked for Lake Garda for 5 nights in May :D

Decided to look at California for next year since booking in advance might net some better prices.

You should look into Europa-Park in Germany. I took the kids there last year and it was great.

That's literally just German Epcot! It has the ball and everything!

Except Europa-Park opened before Epcot.

Currently at the airport (Heathrow) :D flying to Singapore tonight!

Only thing is I'm not sure what I'll do with data as o2 has no arrangements for roaming in Singapore

Just pick up a sim card from the airport. It’ll be wuick and easy and alot cheaper then worrying about Roaming.

I picked up a local sim card everywhere i visited this year.

I've got a horrible day off flying on Tuesday. 6AM flight from Hamburg to Amsterdam, 2 hr wait, then 11 HRS to Bogota. Longest single flight I've taken I think. Not looking forward to it at all, especially as my back had been playing up this week :dread:

I'm hoping it will be half empty so I can lay down for the journey, or at least most of it. Or I'll just get hammered.

Thanks! I actually noticed the advertising for the cards at the airport but I didn't realise that I cud unlock my o2 phone at any time. Only just filled the form out so hopefully o2 will do it quickly!
Thanks.

Has anyone been on an organised tour with randoms before?

Got a fortnight long holiday to take later in the year and not got many ideas for it yet. My mates don’t have the time/money/inclination to join and I thought it’d be cool to have set new people to hang out with throughout rather than going solo again.

My main issue seems to be that all the tours I can see (thinking along the lines of 18-35 style ones that aren’t just drinking holidays) seem to be absolutely ludicrously overpriced. Like, £1000+ for cheap countries such as Thailand or Peru or wherever.

In Kuala Lumpur at the moment it's pretty small but everything is like 5 times cheaper than the UK.

Singapore was honestly really disappointing. There is not much to do just loads of new buildings. I guess Chinatown and Little India was the most interesting parts. Maybe I have been spoiled by Hong Kong where there is tonnes more to do and better transport.

Anyone have any recommendations on places to stay in Amsterdam?

Me and a mate are planing on going at some point this year (long weekend I reckon) and i’m Trying to do a bit of research to find out

- Best places to stay
- Best time to visit (was thinking September/October?)
- Best things to check out whilst we are there

Anyone here been and can give some guidance?

Off to Barcelona at the end of next week. Got our Basilica tickets booked, as well as for the acquarium (love me some fish) and the Casa Battlo. Anyone got any recommendations for restaurants or the like? Or stuff to do that's a little less well known?
