I was actually refused a Chinese visa in 2016 so I’m already on their radar

Well, actually, Colombo has not been Sri Lanka's capital since 1982, the current capital is the easily pronouncable Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte! 8-)

Commercial capital v administrative capital and given Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is within Colombo’s urban area I’m going to allow it ;)

Just returned from 2 weeks in Asia with 1 week in Penang. Absolutely love Penang, visited there 10 years ago but more than happy to return, could see myself living there-it feels like a great mix of cultures in a beautiful setting. Also visited Lankawi for a few days, which is a little tourist resorty but still a beautiful place to explore. Car rental is like £12 a day and petrol 50p a litre too so it’s very cheap to get about.

I loved Vancouver when I went. For a long time it was probably my favourite city (recently dethroned by Tokyo, I reckon).
Would love to go back, but I've heard it's changed a lot since I was there (2009) which kind of puts me off a bit.

I loved Penang. Absolutetly cracking food. Langkawi was also very nice, but a bit too resorty at times for me. Some random couple drove me around the island though, so I got to see a lot of hidden places. I'm hoping to go back to Penang whilst I'm over here.

I'm in Hanoi at the moment having done a couple of over nights in Nimh Binh and Mai Châu. Very pretty countryside areas, but sadly the weather has been a bit dodgy so far. Off to Bai Tu Long Bay on Wednesday, so have a chill out day in Hanoi to maybe go to the prison and do a bit of shopping.

There's always one show off

What a list that is though - at least a dozen cities actively on my hit-list of places to visit(most especially - Canberra, to visit the Australian archives) and a load more I'd love to go to.

I hope you have a spare million or two, you'll need it to be able to afford the shoe boxes that pass for homes out there. :dread:
