One of the main reasons of choosing there was that we could fly out of London City on a small plane, which should also hopefully limit interactions. (We also did want to go to Germany).

Luxembourg is well weird. We went to a small town in the north of called Clervaux, as they have a photography exhibition based there called "Family of Man" (which you should definitely visit if you can). When we arrived "The Race" by Yello was being played really loudly across the town's PA system. The only people visible to us were a couple of old drunks who were shouting at each other. There was a furniture shop there that only sold anthropomorphic items and everywhere we went, bars, restaurants etc seemed to have been furnished by the shop.

Booked some time off in February but we'll see, I'd love to get some winter sun and are thinking either Tenerife or Dubai depending on budget.

Nope, both of my booked tours (Barcelona in May, Luxembourg in August) were binned.

I'll just be grateful if i get a day at the seaside.

Good to see that Belgium, Luxembourg and Croatia are all potentially being lined up to get added to the government's naughty step.

As long as France doesn't go into lock down my trip should be ok... Initial route was France, Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia then Croatia. Quarantine on return doesn't bother me as we both work from home.

Fingers still crossed...

Americans complaining that they will be need to be tested for covid 5 days before, and upon entry to the Dominican republic, are now cancelling those trips and going to Mexico instead because they're not checking :fp:

How much would those covid tests cost them though?

If they don't have one done themselves within the 5 days, the one upon entry is free. They just want to avoid being tested full stop. On the plus side it opens that as a more appealing destination jf theyre not going.

Edit: and also these are wealthy travellers, spending thousands on a weekend. It's not like they couldn't pay for a test.

I've seen stories of people being charged in the thousands for a simple test (/AMERICA) but if they get one upon entry then yeah, strawberry floating idiots.

Now not going to Luxmbourg as it's on the quarantine list (and may be on the German quarantine list as well) as well as our flights being cancelled...

Thinking about flying into Frankfurt and then going to Koblenz (because it's twinned with the amazing Norwich!) before continuing on to Trier.

Yeah, I noticed it was.
We had thought of making Koblenz our first stop, but the campsite looks a bit rubbish, so we're thinking Cochem instead.
Trier is good, the Dom is very impressive, as is the Porta Negra. The sleazy part of town is fun too (we had to walk through it to get to the campsite... We may have stopped in a few bars on the way). Also Frankfurt Airport from the outside is what the future looks like.

My girlfriend is very interested in Cochem, she wanted to stay there originally but I was worried it was a bit small as a base.

Cochem is fantastic, stunningly beautiful little town.

I recommend also popping down the Mosel to Bernkastel Kues if you get the chance.

We were laughing this morning, becuase we remembered that back when the lockdown first started, we talked about what our backup plan would be of we couldn't do Mexico this year. We decided as our backup that we would go to

Florida

How naive was that

Flight this morning was strawberry floating grim. Queue to get into the airport, queue at security and again to get on the plane. No social distancing anywhere. Almost half the people around me pulled their masks off or down as soon as they sat on the plane, as clearly you can't get covid sitting.

No wonder the rates are shooting back up in europe.

Even in the queues, although people were masked, a ton of them were strawberry floating retarded and not covering their faces properly so their noses were clear.

That sounds horrendous.

I see more and more people are hiring campervans and going camping for the first time. I've also seen that UK campsites are ripping the pish by bumping up their prices.

Vermilion wrote: I recommend also popping down the Mosel to Bernkastel Kues if you get the chance.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I doubt we will have the time to visit, unless we just stop there for a bite to eat. We are planning on doing little short hops with one night stays.
At the moment the plan is, get an evening ferry, F1 motel in Lille, Cochem, Sigmaringen, either the Dolomites or northern end of Garda, somewhere in Slovenia near Bled then finally pinging about Istria and a few of the islands before heading back, maybe via Switzerland? Dunno yet.

Or it could just end up 2 weeks in France. :D
