This is the week where we either decide to move our holiday (extremely likely) to next year, as it's the last window where we can do so without penalty. We're waiting on the tour operator (Tui) to come out and cancel the holiday, or just give some sort of update, but until we know if the area we're supposed to be going is going to have travel restrictions lifted, we dont know what to do. If we move it now, it could potentially be going ahead, or it could get cancelled with days to go and we're left with nothing. God only knows.

Would you have to go into quarantine on your return?

As it's currently on the all but essential travel list, I'd imagine so.

If this is the Mexico one I really think it would make the most sense to cancel now. Even if you're going to a, relatively, low risk area, I can't see them getting a handle on COVID until there's a vaccine so it could easily spike before your flight.

It is. There's not only the inconvenience of it all, but what actually happens if one or both of us falls seriously ill with it out there? Be bad enough losing your holiday time without spending weeks in a hospital.

Well ive just booked to go and stay with my mum for a few days in Alicante. The flights were £49 return from Bristol, and although on the "essential travel only" list, it wasnt before and Spains numbers seem lower than our own. Its only for 3 days then back, although now ive booked im stressing out that ive made a mistake or whatever :fp:

If the official advice is essential travel only, then I think your insurance won't be valid.

I have no insurance. Last time I went it was only 3 days and didnt have any, but also you cant get insurance if you book the insurance while its in the essential travel only guidance. I was planning on just going without it again.

I mean, I paid £62 for the flights and the national express, so ill mull it over. If I dont want to go next week I guess its a small loss.

That’s probably what Boli Bolingoli thought and now he’s a national laughing stock north of the border. Think about that.

It seems Battleface still do travel insurance for countries even with essential travel only- £13.21 for the following;

Medical Expenses & Emergency Evacuation: £5,000,000
Accidental Death & Permanent Total Disability: £50,000
Baggage Loss or Delay: £2,000
Money Loss or Theft: £2,000
Trip Cost Cancellation: £2,000
Personal Liability: £500,000

Sorted!

Huh, well there you go then :) Definitely get that becuase the last thing you need is being stuck somewhere due to a sudden change in restrictions.

Does that mean they will just refund you? No need to apply for vouchers or any other delay tactics like that.

My holiday was cancelled from Virgin rather than us doing it and the delay tactics have been in force since the same day.

We can get refunded, but we've asked to move it to mid next year. It's a trip of a lifetime type deal, and we had friends also coming along for part of it. Gutted.

Where would you go?

I would like to go to California and drive from San Francisco to the national parks, Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia Forest

I did similar to this.

Vegas > Death Valley > Yosemite > Napa Valley > San Francisco > Monterey > Big Sur > LA

In a mustang :datass:

It was one of the best things I've done.

We also did something similar, in a mustang  :datass: strawberry floating tourists

We did Vegas > Zion national park > flagstaff > grand canyon > monument valley > Sedona (wedding) > Vegas

Lots of bits inbetween.
