Rijksmuseum's good craic. Loads of cracking culture to soak up if you want to, and plenty of great pubs and restaurants throughout the city. I once ran in to Edwin Van Der Sar, but I don't recommend going keeper spotting.

Obviously the red light district is a big draw for some people, I personally find it pretty grim.

Any recommendations on what restaurants and pubs to go to?

If your wanting a dinning experience then I’d recommend De Kas, can’t really recommend any pubs or bars because I don’t drink alcohol

Started uploading the footage from my recent trip (which was why eliminator was prorogued), it was a fun adventure, and i intend to share further footage as and when it's ready as i was able to get some really great shots from a whole bunch of interesting locations.

First up though, is the outward road trip across Germany (starting from my overnight hotel in Saarbrucken) to Austria and up into the mountains, and then a look around my main hotel in the town of St Anton am Arlberg...

Here's the next set of vids, which were all (including the mountain climb) filmed in and around the town where i stayed...

One thing i will say, it's a shame some of you guys don't share your travel pics/vids on here, as i'd certainly be up for seeing them.

I'm not huge on taking lots of pictures and videos when I go abroad anymore - I tend to just take things in on my own terms nowadays, whereas I used to photograph everything in sight. I do like looking at the pics and videos that pop up in here from time to time though, so I somewhat hypocritically agree with the sentiment. :slol:

Yeah I never take photos anymore as I never did anything with them anyway. Could have a banging insta account as I'm on the move constantly but it's not really for me.

Seeing as Vermillion requested, apart from one or two random posts, my Instagram mainly covers the 10 months off I took to travel in Asia and North America if anyone fancies a look:

I've got 3 weeks off in January and the world is quite literally my oyster.

Has anyone got any suggestions ? Here are my current ideas. Please bear in mind i'd be going as a solo traveller.

1 - Do a gooseberry fool load of skiing and snowboarding somewhere in europe and get as good as i can on the board.
2 - Go to Canada and do it there -> much more expensive though.
3- Vietnam / SE Asia, get on a guided group tour thing
4 - New zealand - again probably join up with a group.
5 - Maybe South America?

If anyone has suggestions on what they think would be best then I'd love to hear them, or you can throw something entirely different at me. I'm not on a budget but Ideally it'd be £1000-£1500. Willing to push up to £2000 for the right trip.

I don't like travelling, but from a psychological perspective, I would recommend trying to split your time between group and solo activity. You spend a lot of time alone anyway so you should try and interact with other like-minded travellers and see if you can make a friend or two, but not to the point where you become reliant on others (which is the cycle you are trying to break).

Kinda. My original plan was to travel in South East Asia for 3-4 months (for which I had £5-6k saved up for everything) and then work in Hanoi teaching English for 6 months then do a couple more months travelling with the money saved up. But by the time I got to Vietnam, I didn't want to stop travelling, so I forgot the teaching idea and carried on (which was a brilliant idea). I financed it by building up a load of debt (about another £5-£6k) on an interest free credit card, which was due to start charging interest on this month, and I finally fully paid off last month.

Oh yeah, not sure if I mentioned it here but I myself am going to Canada on Friday for a couple of weeks with the wife and kid. Looking forward to it. The wife lived in Vancouver for 5 years so she knows the area very well, also got a suite at Whistler booked, trips to the aquarium and whale watching sorted and one of her friends has got us tickets to watch a Canucks game!

Also been invited to two separate Thanksgivings.

I think your budget might be a little light for a few of those options. Maybe start by looking into each option, deciding exactly what you'd like to do there, and price them up and see what that leaves. The guided group tour option, while good for meeting people and having fun along the way, definitely aren't the cheapest way of doing those trips.

Probably right. Whistler would cost like £10K haha. I think I'll research SE asia and NZ and get a bette ridea of what I want. I could push my budget to £3000, it happens to be when my Regular saver matures, thing is I'm a bit tight when it comes to spending on me

SE Asia you could definitely do at your original budget. NZ you'd probably need more like £3k though.
