Ahhh, if you can't use the pass on the Subway then that might change things a bit then. Will probably be worth looking at just separate tickets for the bullet train then for the Osaka trip and then possibly going for the Green Car option to get more space, then a regional pass for side trips out of Tokyo and around Osaka once we're there.

For the 72 hour subway pass can you just buy another one after the first one expires? Just wanted to check there isn't some kind of "One per 30 days" kind of limit or something.

You can buy as many subway passes as you want, whenever you want. They don't activate until the first time you put it through a ticket barrier. You can only buy the from certain places. Some of the larger stations sell them in the Tourist Information Center, a few shops such as BIC camera sell them, and a number of hotels sell them.

With the Rail Pass, you maybe better getting a 7 or 14 day one, depending on how long you are staying in Osaka for and it you're going back to Tokyo or not. You can then activate it starting on the day you go to Osaka. You can then use the Bullet train to get to Hiroshima from Osaka to get better value from it.

I'm not at home so can't do a huge deep dive but this person does some explaining of a 7 day itinerary to make the 7 day pass (at the new price) worth it

This video gives some alternative passes

With Tokyo, it really does depend. I've managed to do Tokyo with the JR Pass supplemented with the occasional trip on the subway. The Yamanote Line and other JR lines will get you to a lot of places. As I gained confidence on later trips I did start using the subways more, but just with a Suica card.

As a side note, I apologise if it sounds like I'm pissing on your plans, I'm not intending to and I do hope you have a great time over there!

Same here. the whole thing crumbled when I refreshed at 9.00am and I'm now 70,000 in the queue. Guess I won't be going to Hong Kong any time soon.

Yeah I have given up. The message says I'm unlikely to get the tickets now due to the amount of people

Just back from 2 weeks in mexico, which was truly incredible. We've stayed at that resort before 5 years ago and have been wanting to go back for ages (had a trip there cancelled thanks to the pandemic). We'd gone for a swim up room this time and my wife had simply asked about 3 months ago by email the the management for a room with afternoon sun. We'd only paid for the lowest tier swim up but got given the best one in the hotel which also had ocean view. My wife recognised the view from the hotel Facebook group as being the one constantly being requested as the best one. Amazing stuff.

Went on a few day trips this time. Did a Cancun food tour which took you to the proper local places on the outskirts. Lovely stuff. Went to Isla Mujeres for a day and had a guy drive us around ina golf buggy showing us the sights. Stunning place.

Flight home was delayed by 2.5 hours, then we arrived at Gatwick to see the electronic passport system had collapsed and there was just a single looooooong queue through for everyone to join. They didn't even have the line split in to UK and international arrivals :fp:

Then the journey home took nearly 5 hours thanks to endless traffic jams at every part of the motorways and accidents. Should have been home at lunch time at the latest but didn't get back until gone 5 :x

We went there for our honeymoon in 2012. Went for 3 weeks; couple days in San Fran, then Maui, Oahu and a night in Las Vegas. Maui was def the highlight, Oahu was just more touristy. Didn't make it to Big Island but saving that for when we go back! Could have digged out some costs for you, but it's so long ago it prob ain't worth it

Going to Tokyo and Hong Kong this week! It was 2007 since i last visited Tokyo. So I'm really looking forward to it.
Going to be in Tokyo for 4 nights and Hong Kong for 8. But thinking I may add on a night in Tokyo and take one from Hong Kong lol as there's more to do in Tokyo and I haven't been in ages.

Anyone been to Copenhagen?
I'm going for a couple of days next month.

I really like castle's and I see there are three in the city but probably only have time for one of them.

Anyone been to any of them/have any recommendations.

The only other thing I have book in is Tivoli Gardens.

I came back from Denmark yesterday. We didn't see any castles but did do the Round Tower which can be done in about 30 minutes costs about a fiver and found it quite fun (it's mostly a giant spiral ramp opposed to stairs)

I really enjoyed Tivoli Gardens, it's not for the thrill seekers (it has a couple of bigger rides) but there's a fun Victorian Charm about the place. Let me know how you found it.

We also went out to Roskilde to the viking ship museum, which personally I think wasn't that great, but there were people out in the Fjord on a Longboat which looked really fun (you have to row it yourself), so if you're going (and it's not too pricy) I'd definitely do that.

As Demmark is so expensive we had a few meals in the Tivoli Food Hall next to Tivoli Gardens which whilst still not cheap, is certainly cheaper than the full scale restaurants.

We also had a tour of the Danish Parliament which I'd recommend (have to book in advance. Tour is about an hour and is free).

Just back on Friday from a 2 week cruise with P&O and it was amazing!!!

We went to Norway where we visited Haugesund, Skjolden, Alesund & Oslo. Oslo highlight was Vigeland Park (which is a massive park full of statues) the fortress and the opera house.
We then had two days in Copenhagen and was meant to go to Skagen in north Denmark but the wind stopped us going and then we finished at Hamburg in Germany.

For me Norway is still one of the most beautiful places on earth it is perfect everywhere you look.
Copenhagen was a nice city, saw the changing of the guard, little mermaid, Christiansborg Palace tour, went to Tivoli and much more.

The actual cruise food was amazing, so much to do it was mind boggling.

I took so many photos and videos, anyone interested in seeing them if I add them to Imgur?
I could probably make a movie out of my footage if I wanted to.
Hamburg was a nice little city, I would recommend doing a tour of the city hall which was more like a palace.
