I hate how many games I've bought multiple times on different platforms. For example, Resident Evil 4: Gamecube, 360, Wii, PC, Switch.

I don't want to think about how many others there are like that. :dread:

...double wow.

I mean, whatever makes you happy! It just seems like a waste of money to me, especially when the consoles are just a gen. apart. Unless they’ve added something new, natch (content, portability, VR capability etc.).

My second purchase of Skyrim on Switch seemed justified for portability, but to be fair if you're putting hundreds of hours into the game then the cost of buying multiple copies doesn't seem bad value. If I had any VR I would probably buy Skyrim again just for the different experience.

I've only bought Skyrim once on PC, I've been tempted by it a couple of times on Switch but it has never been cheap enough to make me pull the trigger. I actually have it listed twice in my Steam library - the original and Special Edition versions. I'm fairly certain they just gave you the SE if you owned the original and all DLC though.

The need to re-buy content across console generations is absolutely one of the worst aspects of the medium and I'm really hoping it goes away now that they have adopted a more common x86 architecture. Old games should just work, and work better, on new machines without you needing to buy a "re-mastered" edition.

No, I’d already finished it and the DLC on Wii U so didn’t buy it again.

It is essentially the same game, but I believe the Switch version has an additional six new tracks.

I gave Skyrim a decent go, somewhere between 5-10 hours before putting it away and playing something that was actually fun instead.
