Domino's New Delivery Car Includes an Oven

Domino's has launched a custom-built pizza delivery vehicle called the Domino's DXP (for Delivery Expert) that includes a warming oven to keep your pizza hot during delivery.

The oven is accessible from the outside of the vehicle for easy access during delivery and can be opened with a touch of the driver's key fob. It heats up to 140 degrees.

Besides being covered in Domino's logos and colors, all but the driver's seat has been removed to create extra room for holding pizzas and storage areas for other menu items. The car can hold up to 80 pizza, which is ideal for large orders.

The concept was originally conceived in an online crowdsourced design competition called the Domino's Ultimate Delivery Vehicle Challenge. The production vehicle ended up being an economical Chevrolet Spark customized by Roush Enterprises, an engineering company.

Before, you imagine a fleet of these across the nation, the company only plans to roll-out 100 DXPs to 25 markets across the U.S., including Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, San Diego, and Seattle. Most Domino's deliveries will still be made by the personal cars of their drivers.

Yeah alright Errkasdal.

I've never had any takeaway pizza that's been worthy of the ridiculous prices, even if you take into account any 'special offers'. Dominos always post some shite through my door, had a leaflet the other day proclaiming "2 pizzas and sides for £24.99" like that's some kind good deal. :fp:

I'd offer the guy an extra £5 just to let me activate the oven door.

What pizza joints have basically done is inflate their standard pricing to such silly levels & attach "vouchers" to all their literature and online, bringing the price down to what it would have been normally. It's all smoke and mirrors - like a windows salesman coming to your door and miraculously knocking a grand off. They never expected to sell it at the original price to begin with. The average price for a pizza these days (if you buy 2 large) seems to be around £8 - £10.

Pizza Hut's classic American deep pan pizza is fantastic at soaking up beer...the grease...the salt...the nondescript cheese...it's the slag of pizzas. And then you get to their garlic bread slices, which have literally come right out of the supermarket. Or their 8 times out of 10 undercooked potato wedges...that taste identical to McCains. Or the Heinz dips that taste...well, like Heinz dips. FILTH. Oh, and who can forget their £4 oven chips.

Has anyone ever had Hungry Jacks pizza?

I'd never heard of them but apparently they're a smaller pizza chain and there's one just about to open up around here.

So the best pizza I've ever had is from a place called Sentinoes. The shop itself is glorious, full of horror and terminator stuff, as well as a life sized, hand made Alien made from car parts. I'm pretty sure they have a google maps tour in there!

The pizza is amazing, I prefer it to pizza hut and dominoes. I usually have the BBQ chicken pizza from there.

Dont ever pay full price for a Dominos. There's nearly always either 50% off if spend £30 or more, or 50% off if spend £20 or more. Always get 2 large for £20~

And it's still way over priced.

Pizza Union in London has 4 locations and does very authentic, wood fired thin crust pizza for under 6 quid. Highly recommended.

Dominos on this poll though. I feel deep shame before, during and after, but it is perfect for a party or poker night.

I love a munchie box. Me and a friend got one each around his birthday a few years back because I had a money off coupon for a local take away and didn't quite realise what an obscene amount of food we'd be getting. Somehow managed to eat most of mine in two sittings bar the 10 inch garlic bread, 2 pittas and most of the chips.

Nothing beats Lucky's pizza at The Lanes (Bristol, Brighton, probably other places) :datass:
