I've been pretty consistent for about 10/11 years now. Realistically I should be strawberry floating miles ahead of where I am  life gets in the way, I'm far from where I was in my prime but lifting no longer defines a huge chunk of my life which is much healthier.

Some of the guys in the gym I go to are proper dedicated, live for the gym which is crazy! I’m happy training in the morning before work and that’s that

Just got back from the gym and failed at the fourth set of 85kg bench for 5 reps.

I'm blaming my blocked ear :shifty: it's strawberry floating me up!

I'm able to put in good distance on the treadmill at 15kmph again now though, which I'm happy with. Never used to put much stock in running years ago but I can't deny the benefits these days.

Easy enough 6x5 at 90kg bench press. Life got in the way in November and December gym sessions so unfortunately had to drop the weight as I've missed too many sessions.

My knees are killing me from running. I did 4km on Saturday and 5km on Sunday (both on a treadmill) and even now they don't feel fully recovered. Not even sure how to describe the feeling, hopefully will be fine for Saturday otherwise I'll have to switch to the cycling machine for low impact cardio. :fp:

Probably ought to get new running trainers too. Mine are from 2008!

HIIT is a cardio work out where essentially you alternate going quick then slow. It can be used in pretty much any discipline, running / cycling / swimming etc.

CrossFit is brand that runs it's own gyms that specialise in circuit training type routines, where you have half a dozen or so varying workouts, and you'll loop though them about 3-5 times in a group - to give you a full body workout. It can involve body weight exercises, weights and cardio. They tend to lean more towards things like kettle bells and heavy ropes, rather than Olympic lifts. They also have completions to help spread the brand. They get a bad rep because as an organisation they can be very culty, but the basics of their workouts aren't a bad idea.

I've never heard of F45.

I really need to get back into exercising. finding it a bit difficult as I am travelling more than 50% of each month, and tend to pack ultra light because of it.

Definitely has a big impact for me too. The more I travel the more difficult it is to stay in shape. Particularly if you've got long meetings and no, or a gooseberry fool, hotel gym.

It's hard enough with shift work but that must be a real pain if you don't even know if the place you're staying has a gym. Do you get any say over where you're staying? How much suspect processed meat do you have to eat to get the protein in? ;)

Been strange training this year, I pushed it hard last year but after Christmas I topped out at 201 pounds and really didn't fancy going back to 4000 calories a day so have just been eating around 3000-3500 as I fancy and an already down to 195 feeling much less bloated and all around more comfortable. Generally feeling a bit gooseberry fool though, had a cold over Christmas and have something else now which is a bummer as I was going like a train through November and early December.

How is everyone else getting on?

Damn, all putting my bench to shame. Feels like I've been hovering around 62.5kg for aaages. I usually go to the gym on my own, so no spotter, which I don't think helps. But just really struggle to make progress. Also recently had a bit of pain in my shoulder when benching, looked into a bit and seemed to say have elbows at a slight angle which has helped (pain wise, not weight wise).

I try to use those weeks as deloads tbh, saves me lugging my kit about and trying to squeeze workouts in at like 5am. Can choose the hotel to an extent but a proper good gym in one is a rarity I've found.

My month's been going well although the last few days diet has been slacking. I have similar issues - 4000 cal diet is just getting me down as it means constant cooking, and constant eating. Plus unless you're going down the pizza/eating shite route is tough to keep on top of.

I'm not anti machine training to be honest, if I'm in a hotel in more than likely on holiday so being able to get in and out in 40 minutes is quite nice.

A Tesco finest pizza with a big bag salad is one of my favourites :shifty:

I don't see it as that bad to be honest, if you're going to eat bread or pasta anyway and for just over a thousand calories, loads of protein and helps keep the Domino's cravings away, it's a reasonable compromise.

Does anyone use liquid chalk?

I'm doing quite heavy dead lifts (for me) and I find my grip is slipping a bit. Just wondered if anyone would recommend it?

I've got a mate who swears by it, but I haven't used it myself.

Regular chalk is brilliant so I imagine the liquid stuff would also be very helpful.
