I'm actually finding this week harder than the last few months. I think it's because it feels so close, but it's still not here yet .

Got board early on so started experimenting.

Day 11 clapping
Day 17 burpees
Day 20 one arm
Day 22 reverse wrist (these were a killer)

They are okay, I did better in my 20's. That is a minimum of 6 reps, Im always in the gym on my own so never had a spotter to see how much I could go to.

This is a good point, I need to plan what I'm going to do when I actually go back to the gym, and try to work out what weights to do or everything. I have no idea how much strength I've lost...

What are you doing? I tried to go back a few pages.

Just whatever I can muster with a barbell and ~110kg worth of weights. Without a rack, a bench or proper flooring (and conscious of the neighbouring wall) it's been minimal.

I mean more that I'm struggling in general without having access to the gym. Can feel myself being grumpy about things for no good reason, just an overall sense of frustration to accompany my growing gut and weakening muscles.

I have been annoyed with myself as I don't have weights and I am not comfortable to go back to the gym yet. I run which helps keep the weight down and in Jan I changed diets which has lead me to lose 2% body fat and 11kg of weight.

Now I have some dumbbells which are only 16kg each but have found exercises to get the most out of them, along with a 16kg kettlebell and I try and do Yoga and a Intense HIIT once a week and honestly I am getting near the same results as I would at the gym. Obviously there are things I would like (bench press and squat rack) but it's been good compared to nothing.

I think my motivation now has come from seeing results.

That's cool, in fact 11kg is a huge amount to lose so well done on that!

I don't want to moan much because I'll just sound like a massively entitled prick and will rightfully have tiny violins sent my way. Just got to get to next week.

I was lucky to get hold of a pull-up bar, 24kg kettlebell, dip bars, a couple of 10kg dumbbells and a cheap portable squat rack at the start of the pandemic. And then nabbed a bench off my brother a couple of months after that. Unexpectedly, weighted dips have become my favourite exercise. The only 'main' lift I don't do - and the thing that makes going back to the gym very tempting - is the deadlift. Worried about strawberry floating up my patio and the most weight I have available to me is about 80kg so it doesn't even feel worth bothering with. Ideally, I would squat heavier, but 80kg isn't the end of the world. I put off buying plates because they're expensive and I keep telling myself I'll be back in the gym someday. And the longer I put it off, the more reason I have not to buy more.

All in all, though, I'm very lucky that I've been able to keep exercising during the pandemic. And it means I'm happy waiting a little longer to return to the gym until I'm confident it's safe.

Been just over 1 yr since being in an actual gym. Used resistance bands, some 10kg dumbbells, home workouts and a lot more running in that time, so at least my cardio is better. But pretty sure I've lost weight in that time, I don't have scales at home annoyingly so not sure how much. I wasn't doing huge numbers compared to a few of the folk in here, from what I can remember doing 5 reps, 65kg bench, 75kg squat, 110kg deadlift.

Genuinely excited about getting back into the gym routine, even though the covid risk will still be there. Just need to work out what I'm actually going to do first time back instead of just trying to do everything

For those of you with a home gym, I'm needing some recommendations please. Budget is about a grand ideally.

The pieces I need are:
- pull up and dip station (these are the most important)

- somewhere to do leg raises (preferably the sort of fat, flat dip bar shaped pieces where you can rest your forearms. Does that make sense? Does anyone know what they're called?) (I'm doing hanging leg raises just now but i suspect I'm getting arthritic problems- my shoulder kills me afterwards)

- squat rack, bench and weights (these are secondary for now but I'm wondering about getting a rack that has a pull up bar and dip bar add on to save space)

I was wondering about something like this - the cable pull down could be good for my back also but I'm not sure how any resistance is added to those. Also the site is called bang good which doesn't sound the most legit :shifty:

The mrs was extremely unimpressed with having multiple pieces of equipment in the garden so going to hit up an all in one solution (the Darwin cable model):

I should be looking at just over a grand all in, with barbell, weights and accessories.

I need to figure out how to build it on grass too though - I'm thinking bricks, large wooden panel, then lifting mat on top. I'll need a large tarp to put over the squat rack when not in use. Place with a garage in a good location wasn't in budget :'(

POwer rack with the dip and chin feature definitely better. I'd try and store weights indoors if you can, mine have started rusting being in the garage.

I have also changed my diet and now purchase monthly Huel powder and savoury meals to swap from my normal Lunch and snacks. This gives me all the nutrition I need in the day in one simple meal.

I've got a huge shed where I plan to put the barbell and weights overnight but unfortunately the rest of it will be sitting outside - already been reading about how spiders apparently love the little holes in the rack :dread:
