I was sparring on Wednesday night and caught a roundhouse kick to the face, which nearly knocked me out, first time I've been clipped properly like that, was a weird feeling but I guess it was going to happen at some point.

It's funny because I thought my clothes were doing too good a job of hiding my flab ( So strawberry floating sick of being told I look fine) when in actual fact they're doing almost as good a job of hiding what little lean mass I have gained since 2015. So yeah, I'm now changing from cardio with weights to purer weight training with a day or two of cardio per week.

I've never been properly KO'd but I've seen stars, is such a jarring experience.

You got a decent weights program to follow sok?

I'm slowly building my strength back up from pneumonia just by walking a little further every day, hoping to be back in the gym in a week or so but will have to take it very easy.

Trying to pack back on the massive amount of weight I lost too, is difficult as a naturally skinny person with crohn's but I'll get it done. Had three McDonalds chicken burgers as a snack yesterday. :shifty:

Yeah I was the same with the stars more than an actual KO, the feeling of my body all just stopping at once was quite the surreal experience.

What weight programme would you follow Rocsteady?

I began with Starting Strength then started making my own routines, if you have no life and only care about getting ripped I'd recommend PHAT. You have to eat like a maniac though, I tried it at the peak of my fitness obsession and couldn't keep on top of it. Mainly because it was made by 'natural' Lane Norton who's blatantly injecting daily.

I change my routine slightly all the time but the basics remain the same, my routine that got my ripped as strawberry float (If I say so myself) was:

RP being rest pause: 8-12 reps to begin with then 3 reps every 50-60 seconds. Until 30 reps. If you hit more than 12 initial reps, up the weight.

Monday

Deadlift 1x6
Bench or dips (alternate these each time) either; bench - RP, or dips - 3x15
Chins/pull ups (alternate these each time) - RP
Bicep curls 3x12
Standing Tricep extensions 3x15
Cardio - quick HIIT on cross trainer or cycling, just 10/15 minutes. This is the same for each cardio, just alternate them.

Tuesday

Squats -RP
Leg press - 3x15
Cardio

Wednesday

Bench or dips, same as before - RP or 3x15
Chins or pulls, same as before
Lat pull downs - 3x15
DB rows - 3x15
Seated bicep hammer curls - 3x12
Lying Tricep extensions - 3x20, I go light on these to protect my wrists
Lat raises - 3x15

Thursday

Deadlift - RP
Squats - 3x6, heavy
Cardio

Friday

Bench/dips - same
Chins/pulls - RP
Bicep curls (superset) 3x12 initially then keep going down until 5kgs burns
Tricep pull downs 3x15
Tricep dips 2x20
Cardio

You can reduce it to 3 days easily by missing deadlift one day, changing the squats to Monday and Friday and the deadlift day to Wednesday. Make that one deadlift day an RP set if you're going for bodybuilding, obviously for strength go for the heavy set.

I had my first bad experience in a gym yesterday evening.
I have switched to a different gym nearer to my house, and it's a lot busier than the one I used to go to. While I was doing bench press I got asked after each set if I was done, no problems once I explained I had a few sets left though.

I wanted to finish my workout by doing pendlay rows, but both rubber platforms were in use, one by a guy doing olympic style weightlifting, the other was two young women taking turns to do an exercise I didn't recognise. It seemed to involve lying under the barbell and using your core strength to move it.

As they finished and stood up (without deloading the bar, natch) I asked if anyone else was waiting to use the platform or if I could go ahead.

And I got a look from the two of them that I hadn't seen since I was a teenager at school. The look of "Wow I can't believe this guy has the gall to speak to me". When they both just smirked at me, I repeated myself politely, and they shared another look and said "no, obviously".

It literally costs zero pounds to be this way. :(

Try not to think on it too much, they're the banana splits. An attitude like that will come back to bite them.

I've started some easy bodyweight exercises and am looking better for eating so much again. Eating 5 substantial meals a day with snacks is going well. Except for the cost.

Hoping to put a stone back on by the second week of March, to take me back above 13 stone.

I fell off the wagon after I moved house. I had to move on my usual gym day, and until that point I hadn't missed a gym day for 3 months (3 times per week).

But once you've lost your streak, it's so hard to motivate yourself again. I finally got off my arse and went to the new gym yesterday. I've had to massively deload which was depressing, but expected.

I doubt they'll be there in February.

Winckle: Don't let their look get you down. If anything, if you feel up to it, give 'em another chance to possibly not be dickheads to you.

Roc: I lost my weight using a programme from the HASFit YouTube channel and have decided to gain some muscle using one of their programmes too. (Mostly because I'm still working out at home using free weights.)

Re being "scrawny": Apparently not! Bought a large mirror so I could stand back and get a good look at myself, and I also asked a friend for their honest opinion. strawberry float knows what went on in that photo, but looking in the mirror and it's a different story, and the friend said that I looked like "someone who regularly attends a gym." *shrug* Gonne keep at it with the weight training for now, though.

:shifty: Winkle, he's talking to you.

Funny thing: was scratching my shoulder yesterday when something felt off. So I felt around the general shouldery area (left and right) and... omfg yous guys! It felt more muscly! I then recalled that a couple of weeks ago, when I was flexing my bicep in front of the bathroom mirror  I noticed it was more bulgier than usual around the bottom potion of the head! So yeah, my body composition was definitely improving for the better even before I started on the weight training :toot: Feels good, etc.

I'm slightly worried about my dead lift form, I'm not really feeling it in my legs, and a bit worried about my lower back.

I started doing them from a raised level, at most a few inches high. Forced me to use my legs more, and works that first part of the lift if you notice that's your weakest bit.

Went jogging this week for the first time in months because it's finally warm enough for me to not risk a cold.
My recent training habits have slimmed me down a bit and I think I'm overall in better shape. That said I'm going to need a few runs to get that conditioning back to stop soreness.
Also decided to start implementing shadow boxing into my routines. The constant punching and weaving is really working muscles I don't normally use, it's quite painful to be honest but I get a good sweat on from it.
I'm hurting pretty badly today and I can't make my mind up if I want to get on the bike and do a session. It's pretty light exercise and taking a long walk got me in the mood.

Best thing you can do is to set up your phone or ask someone in the gym to record you. Post it up here and we can see where you're going wrong.

If that's too awkward, ask someone at the gym who looks like they know what they're doing to watch your form.

Always good to review the basics too: https://stronglifts.com/deadlift/#gref

Also God I hate running. strawberry floating hate it. Not been doing much cardio except lots of hiking lately as there's no boxing gym near me and even hitting the treadmill after weights is just dire. Find it so boring.

I’ve finally got back in to the gym over the past few months. My aim is purely to lose weight at this star as I’m a chunky mess.

I’m currently doing a mixture of weights, couch to 5k and swimming. I work up an unsightly sweat after each run so am I best to focus on that for weight loss or should I keep doing a mixture of things?
