How's everyone's squat, bench and deadlifts coming on?

Was getting back on track before lockdown. Have gone to pretty much complete gooseberry fool since!

Yeah it's a nightmare for so many people. I have gone about 6 weeks without now and what an effect it was having on mental health. Literally danced out of my first warm up squat in my garage.

Forgive me if it's someone else but you were injured for a while few years back aye?

I've had a couple: ACL left knee and slipped disc in the lumbar.

Mental health is huge with this. I credit weight lifting (and running, to be fair) with keeping my brain in very good shape (for the most part, pending potential-but-probably-not-actually alcoholism) over the years.

Good to see you BH. I posted some gifs of bodyweight workouts if you're willing to resort to such means, and you need some inspiration. I'm mainly lifting water bottles in buckets and washing baskets, which is better than nothing.

I lost a bit more weight this week, which I'm happy with. Still only drinking once a week, and cut back chocolate after Easter. Starting to see the beginning of some abs.

Water bottle weight training still going well.
Running going well, up to 16km on my longer runs.
Didn't cycle on weds as it was cold and wet, but planning on getting back to it tomorrow.
Yoga is still horrible. My body is so inflexible. I'm a sweaty mess at the end of every session. I hate it, but hoping I'll get better soon so I can start enjoying it.

Think it was the slipped disc I'm remembering.

Fair play getting that long cardio in. I did some bodyweight stuff early days but realised how bad my muscles were for endurance.

All sorted now though, 220 of weights, squat rack and bench. The barbell is shite now with almost no grip so deadlift tonight will be interesting :slol:

Starting very light though ease back into everything. Was hitting 5s at 180 on squat, 120 on bench and 230 on deadlift before all this nonsense annoyingly, had been on a good cycle first time in two year. Starting Monday I'll be doing:

Monday: Heavy Squat 5x5 90kg
Tuesday: Heavy Bench 5x5 70kg
Wednesday: Heavy Deads 5x5 (will figure out starting weight tonight)
Thursday: Light Squat 5x4 (80% of heavy weight)
Friday: Light Squat 5x4 (80% of heavy weight)

Then add 5kg each week so within 3 months I should be back to a decent enough level I can start another three month cycle.

That was awesome, he made that look easy. He should have gone for 505 or higher in my opinion. Looked like he had more in the tank.

Apparently The Mountain challenged Eddie Hall to a boxing fight after doing the 501kg Deadlift which Eddie has now accepted.

If the below clip is anything to go by they are going to gas out hard. :slol:

Anyone have good recipes for high protein, low calorie meals? For the first time in my life I'm unintentionally putting on weight.

Part of the draw of the gym for me is slinging headphones on, zoning out, punishing myself (to an extent), and coming back outside to the real world. Working out in the living room, isn't the same.

Get yourself a pull up bar and a set of rings. I got a nice set up for £120.

I can’t see one that would fit in my doorways properly (rented flat).

I found an EZ Curl bar for £30-50 which would do but I can’t find any large enough weights in stock till the end of June.

Bizarrely Argos seems to be the only real good place for home workout stuff & they are closed

I got the men's health pull up bar from Argos just before lock down, I can't imagine it not being able to fit in almost any door. It's nice and sturdy too, compared to a cheaper one I used to have 5 years ago.

Do you ever worry about strawberry floating up the door frame? I don't know if I'm being stupid but I'm always concerned they'll collapse the top off it or rip out some of the gooseberry fool quality wood or something

This is absolutely why I've never bought one! I can't trust 85kg of idiot hanging on my door frame. :slol:

I originally worried, but actually seeing how the weight is distributed and how sturdy it is means I have no concerns now. I had a cheaper one in the past that would bend at the join in the middle that was concerning, but this one is great.

Got a treadmill coming in a couple of weeks, for myself and the missus. Been trying to get one for 2 months, equipment is like bloody gold dust though!
