I’m at about the same point as jiggles. I think a battle is imminent that could be the end of Chapter 3. I’ll wait until everyone has got started before I post a theory/suspicion I have.

Alright, that’s Chapter 3 in the bag at 4 hours 11 mins (I did all the side stuff and I’m level 13).

Thoughts so far: I’m really enjoying it! I love the MMO setting, the characters and combat. I was hoping for a little more puzzling at this point (it’s mainly just been traversal puzzles) but I’m fine with it. The time really just zooms by playing it. I keep thinking I’ve only been playing like 10 mins when it’s been an hour.

Story to this point:
Tbh, I’ve become so enrapt in the MMO aspect of it that I forgot there was a greater plot in play. I figure Lea is the same player as the intro, just in an alt account (and actual player amnesiac).

I really liked the high level dude coming outside of the game to attack you on the ship. A little bit of “Westworld” in there.

But strawberry float that, all I care about is owning Apollo over and over. Backseat modding little gooseberry fool. I went and mopped up all the sidequests within my level while he was waiting for the duel to start, which levelled me a few times. I liked that when I came back he was like “wtf are with your stats”, which I hope isn’t what he says regardless. Anyway, spanked him 5-0

Anyway, I’ll pause here while a few of you get caught up.

So I'm done with the intro and have completed the first two chapters, it really is a fun little thing to play isn't it!? The combat is enjoyable so far with quite a few things to keep you occupied and mix up the encounters but without feeling too complex or frustrating (so far at least!)

It seems to have opened up a bit now in Chapter 3 so I'm excited to see how things develop!

Also I'm playing this on Xbox Cloud Gaming and the experience has been pretty much perfect so far! This kind of game lends itself to the streaming approach as it's not overly complex visually I think. The controls have been very responsive which is the thing that worried me :D

I'm really far behind with this, but plan to give it a bit more of a go later tonight. I think I'm still in the intro, but really enjoying the mechanics of it.

PS don't worry about spoilers on my behalf, or you'll never finish it

I've gotten stuck trying to fight some kind of giant enemy crab.

But, that might be because I've sunk a bottle and a half of wine before attempting it. For some reason, my reactions are sub-optimal right now.

I might need to remap the controls, because I never like using the LB and RB for things. Yes, it's the buttons

You’re right! I thought I mentioned this in the thread, but I must have forgotten. First thing I did was swap the shoulder buttons round. You use the attack and dash far more, so it makes sense to have them on the triggers instead of the L/R bumpers. They must have known this was likely, because there’s an option in the menu specifically for swapping them.

I nearly beat that giant enemy crab just now, despite having an ADDITIONAL bottle of wine!

So definitely do the button switches folks, it really is all right there in the options.

Also, I've decided to just wander around saying "Hi" to people, and see how their conversations flow. I've found its much better pretending to be mute and then just nodding.

I'm learning actual life skills here.

OK, Chapter 3 done (plus the following cut scene, to get to a tidy save point).

Like jiggles, I’d have liked more puzzling, as hinted at in the tutorial sections, but the Chapter 4 opening scene promises that a dungeon is imminent, so I’m guessing that will fit the bill.. At least there was the cave.

Enjoying it all so far, and it’s clearly been designed beautifully, from the environments to the playability.

My hunch:
With its self-referential, game-within-a-game setup, I’m expecting it to pull the rug from under us at some point. Are we really meant to be completing these quests? Are the levelling up and points allocation just things for players of CrossWorlds to concern themselves with, rather than us players of CrossCode?

Hi!

I am still stuck on the giant enemy crab.

I'm going to go absolutely ballistic when I knock his box off his back.

Are you stuck because you don't know what to do or are you stuck because you know what to do but are just finding it too hard?

The problem, I think, is that whilst I know what to do (run about, dodge, fire stuff, wait till it's knackered then attack attack attack), that I have so far not attempted this before having a skinfull.

This is on me, not the game.

I'm going it's claws right off tomorrow.
