I feel for the staff at the studio, after working incredibly hard on the game, and enduring what sounds like some of the shittiest office politics going as the creative leads were forced out by the studio owners, the most vocal sections of the fanbase have rarely acknowledged them or their contributions, and instead they've borne the brunt of the abuse aimed at the studio, where presumably they've stayed because they needed stable employment. To then get canned after that must be incredibly miserable.

Likely the studio was always going to be doomed after such an explosive schism at the top, turning their biggest fans against the remaining organisation. An expansion would not have been the same without Kurvitz and Rostov, and under the direction of the ultraliberals now running the place, despite the best efforts of the remaining creative staff, so this cancellation isn't as big a blow as it should feel.

The whole situation sounds like a total mess, and ultimately I'm just thankful they were able to get the masterpiece that this game is out in the first place.

Awful that people have lost their jobs but I hope this means Disco Elysium will be left alone.

It was interesting playing this beautiful videogame partially about pining for a revolution that will probably never come, having your heart broken after investing in something for so long and the desire to make your mark in the world with the knowledge that this was the ultimate fate of the studio (and IP).

I am finished! Excellent game that a few bugs put a slight dampener on at the end. The person with my gun just didn't spawn in at 10pm (and wouldn't no matter my loading area shenanigans) meaning I had to try again the next day when I had nothing productive to kill time with.

I am happy with the ending.

Spoilers and thoughts from the "tribunal" onwards.

Almost turned the game off after I failed a 97% (!) chance to save Kim from being shot.

Glad I carried on though as it meant Cuno followed me around for the finale, and he really endeared himself to me with some fantastic lines and genuinely touching character moments. Cuno laying into my old partner about how much I've done for everyone was heartwarming.

And I managed to convince the cops to bring Cuno along to be a junior RCM agent, so I feel like maybe decent thing came out of my playthrough. Would have been nice to have more closure with Kim. But hey you can't have everything.

I like how the mystery wrapped up. It was pretty clear early on that none of the leads were likely suspects so I wondered how they would tie things up in a satisfying way. This game pulls off the "hey it was someone you never met or saw until the reveal!" outcome by baking said outcome in the lore and world building in a thoroughly believable way. It rewards having spent time learning about the history of the place (and also means that you don't have to engage with the actual investigation if you don't want, I suppose).

Anywho absolutely outstanding piece of media that will stick with me forever. Don't think I have the fortitude to do another playthrough straight away, but I definitely will in a few years.

The (ending spoiler) Cuno Ending was an amazing watch on Aaron's stream -- incredibly funny and quite touching too! Well worth seeing.
