Watching Pedz and Jenuall play this has made me want to give it a go - think I might start it on my twitch channel tomorrow eve!

Captain Kinopio wrote:Ok so I've been well and truly reminded of what I hated about this game. The strawberry floating combat is a nightmare. The damage strawberry floating up your screen so it disorientates you. How quickly the enemies flip about and just how quickly you die. Eurgh.

Sorry to hear the Typhon are giving you so much trouble Herbi! Have you tried slowing the enemies down with the GLOO gun? Or, if you've found it, using the stun gun to temporarily freeze them in place? They can be quite slippery customers so any advantage you can get at slowing them down is worth taking

The "Combat Focus" skill upgrade path might be one to explore as well - this slows down time to give you more advantage in combat. Combined with the Firearms skill which improves your weapons damage and upgrades to individual weapons themselves you can quite quickly become a much more capable killing machine!

For any PS4/5 gamers who are thinking about trying out Prey, the Digital Deluxe Edition (includes the main game and the Mooncrash expansion) has today gone on sale in the PS Store for £10.49.

Good spot jawa!

Mooncrash is a really fun expansion, it's quite similar to the recently released Deathloop in terms of gameplay concept.

Enjoyed watching some of your first steps into the world of Prey last night Aaron - I mean I wasn't expecting you to spend quite that long throwing cushions and rice cookers around your apartment at the start but y'know it's all about playing your own way!

It's always fun watching people play something like this for the first time, even with the relative amount of tutorials and pop-ups they give you on a first play through I think there's still a fair amount to take in and a good amount of freedom available to the player so it's interesting to see what approach players take and which way they go about the early areas!

I'm using the skills I honed in the apartment to throw explosive cannisters at enemies!

I'm really enjoying it - played a chunk more off stream today and am about to head into GUTS.

I'm really liking the different ways to approach a scenario, and the rewards for exploring. Putting two and two together and figuring out I have to weigh a flask that weighs exactly 171 grams was very rewarding. Shooting a nerf gun through a window to open a door was so satisfying (I later realised I could have also waited for a robot to come and unlock it a la perfect dark).

I'm basically killing everything, but I feel quite weak. Been upgrading my abilities with the wrench and the repair skill. Utilising a lot of the explosive cannisters around the place to make progress. I must have missed the shotgun however as I have seen other streamers with it at this point (and I'm getting a lot of shotgun shells).

Nice, I just got to the GUTS myself! :toot:

Using the nerf gun to open doors is so satisfying (it has many other cool uses as well and is one of the best things in the game! )

Glad to hear your experimenting with ways to get the edge of your enemies, explosive canisters are very helpful! There are lots of ways to use the environment and various tools and equipment around the station to your advantage.

There are a few places to pickup each weapon, a shotgun can be found really early if you know where to look (it's in quite a logical place) but you'll almost certainly come across one eventually. Or you can find the fabrication plan for it and craft a fresh one!

I really like the GUTS section, the zero gravity spaces can be a bit disorientating but there's also a lot of fun to be had in them, and so much scope for exploring!

I really need to get another session in with this! Enjoyed my first hour + with it but then got sidetracked by other games, maybe with the horror aspects this is a good one to play throughout October though! Still going to go for that wrench smashing play style though :datass:

Sorry had to bail on watching as my machine decided now was the time to force an update on me!

Hope you're enjoying your journey toward the Arboretum!

Finally making a start tonight after a week from hell. Looking forward to jumping on, especially after all the positive thoughts about the game so far in the thread.

I'm surprised at how much this has it's claws in me and how much I'm enjoying it!

Been spending a lot of time on side missions. Once I realised you could craft skill points I've essentially specced in a way to allow me to maximise that (necropsy and increased recycle yield).

The Arboretum is a great area. Think I'll push forward with the main story next session!

I'm a little resource drained after opting to fight instead of run away from a nightmare. Also I'm still feeling a but weak but I guess that's the point!

I've had Prey installed on my PC for an age, but have never gotten around to playing it. Reading through this thread I really should.

Never time like the present, Gem. Maybe this event could be worth joining in with!
