I'd be up for this, assuming a game I have and/or would like to play is picked. Like Psychonauts.

I'd be up for that too if I could find it cheap somewhere.

Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry, yeah.

I've got an unplayde copy of Galleon sat next to my Xbox, I've heard some good things about that game (I've also heard some other things) Same goes for Brutal Legend, but I am aware the point of this isn't to recommend games I've not yet gotten around to getting into.

I would also heartily recommend XIII - an FPS I thoroughly enjoyed, despite not being a fan of the genre. It's got a brilliant storyline, and with it being on PS2, GC and Xbox, should be relatively easy (and cheap) to find. It's divided into chapters (well, levels) and while not a huge game, it's not one-playthrough-short either.

If I could find a copy I'd echo Frank's calls for Rocket: Robot on Wheels. If I could find a working N64 Memory Pak I'd also suggest Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, which was hilarious.

GRplayde? Let's make it happen.

I'd be up for AP, but I can never really stick it out with average games.

Cuttooth wrote:Alpha Protocol is a decent shout too since it's cheap for every platform. But isn't kind of lengthy? I'm still only on the first mission and I've had it for ages, and a GRplayde would give me the excuse to get back into it. Might not be great if it's yet another choice that only a few will bother to finish.

I do prefer the idea of GRplayde being for previous generation games though, or for the earlier games of this generation, say up to 2007 or so.

Previous gen/older than that generally fits the format better as they're more level-based, before open worlds became such a common sight this gen.

A few months back Rllmuk did a Hitman: Blood Money group play. That game is perfectly fitted for this; level-oriented so it's possible to set up clear checkpoints, variety of approaches to any given task so players can regale each other with unique tales, just generally being an amazing game.

We can also do the Hitman challenge that Kil and I did a while ago.

You do the levels on Pro (obviously) and have to play it completely by ear - one playthough only. If someone sees you do something, you have to kill them and adapt the plan. Whoever has earned the most at the end wins.

I'd be up for this. Would buy Psychonauts for it, seeing as that's a popular recommendation and I've been thinking of getting it anyway.

I like that idea, but I've never completed a Hitman game despite always loving the first few levels

Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube anybody? Perfect for checkpoint based gaming with its chapter layout.

Another vote for Psychonauts here, it's one of thouse games that's been stuck in my Steam backlog that I really should do.

Is it easy to find on consoles? Is it BC on the 360?

It is BC and was made available to download as an Xbox Original but that's since stopped, apparently. :?

Shouldn't be too expensive second hand I imagine. It's only £6 on Steam and the requirements aren't particularly strenuous for an older PC/laptop.

AFAIK it's backwards compatible on the 360. Dunno about physical copies, but it was downloadable on Xbox Live, however apparently it was taken down when Double Fine claimed back the IP. Until Double Fine sorts that out, it'll probably be easiest to get it on Steam (with Mac support!) or GOG (DRM free, Meat Circus still hard). Considering it's a game that ran on my ye olde Pentinum 3-based jalopy of a computer, I would be surprised if there was someone on here that doesn't have a computer that can run it.

I'd rather buy an original Xbox copy (or a PS2 one, if need be) to be honest, as I am currently sharing a laptop. If it's cheap enough and readily available then I would join in if it gets picked.

Add another vote for Luigi's Mansion in honour of the upcoming sequel!

I think these should be more relevant to upcoming releases anyway!

Something multiformat so it's less exclusive.

Luigi's Mansion! Plenty of us have said it now so it clearly wins.

If not then Hitman Bloody Money or an SSX game (3).

Oh, what about The Last window or Ghost Trick? I've still got those to play through.

The obvious choice is the original Paper Mario.

Easily split up into parts, and easy to get hold of thanks to the VC. Also, for people who definitely already own it, you can emulate it easily.

The first GRPlayde was Paper Mario. Now let's make the comeback Paper Mario, too.

Votes so far:
Psychonauts 5
Killer 7 3
Hitman BM 3
Luigi's Mansion 2

Games with 1 vote: Theme Hospital, Katawa Shoujo, Crash Time, FFVII, Bulletstorm, Ninja Blade, Alpha Protocol, Eternal Darkness.

(Some people may have voted twice, I didn't check, this is just for a guide).
