A companion thread to the desert island discs one over in the other forum, I thought it might be fun to play out the ‘My Favourite Console’ podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/m ... 1665581266)

Host Simon Parkin invites various industry luminaries and celebrities to pick their favourite 5 games to go on to an imaginary console. These are titles that have generally changed their lives or had some influence over things and there is no barrier of entry. (Seriously, the Podcast is really worth a listen)

As a bit of fun you also have to give your imaginary console a name.

I've picked five games that would keep me entertained for a long period of time.

> Fallout 3 - The classic post-apocalypse adventure filled with cool locations, missions and characters. I would like to have all of the DLC available, too!
> Mad Max - A terrific journey through the wasteland, with cool battles, fantastic tools amid crunchy feedback.
> Fallout 76 - I'd love to continue creating camps and, hey, finally get my head around the missions, too.
> Pro Evolution Soccer - I haven't played this for a few years now but, for a long time, it was my main game. Every match can turn out differently; easy to pick up but hard to master.
> Final Fantasy XIV - I really like the atmosphere but I've always struggled with understanding the mechanisms. Island living could be the opportunity I need to finally learn how it works.

I would play these games on an MSX III console; an industry-standard design that allows you to play games on any MSX system.

For me, the perfect console would be a PS5 which could also play XBox and Switch games.

These days, there only really needs to be a single format anyways, especially considering just how expensive the hardware is.

1. Trials Evolution

2. Fall Guys (I assume the island has internet)

3. Super Mario Wonder

4. Half Life 2 (3 if the island allows mythical games)

5. Assassins Creed Odyssey

The console will be called the Commodore 2K, which represents my first gaming machine, plus the super cool naming that everything used in 1999.

What the actual strawberry float? :D

You're really into Wonder? Cool, Wonder is amazing!

I didn't know you had a switch - visit the switch sometimes. It's the best thread :capnscotty:

I've never played it. But if I'm stuck on a desert island then I want a Mario game and might as well go for a highly regarded game I can experience for the first time.

I own a PS5 and Switch not an xbox

Agree on single format (though silly as it I'd still have an affection to play Nintendo games on Nintendo hardware), but even though I don't have one I would say Xbox able to play PS5 games and Switch (not PS5 that can play Xbox) closer to "a perfect console" (putting aside it wouldn't be good for either of them to have a monopoly). I own PS5 and Switch for exclusives - I can live without an Xbox - but I think XBox is maybe better for consumer point of view with gamepass etc and maybe slightly better build (I'm not sure about that)

- XCOM2: War of the Chosen
- Stardew Valley
- Civilization V
- Disgaea 5
- Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

All running smoothly on the Super Megacube Turbo 16 Lite.

Here's my choices.

1. Everybody's Golf
2 Baldurs Gate 3.
3 Company of Heroes 3
4 Pure Pool
5 Cities Skylines

If the island has Wifi and aceess to the internet I'd get rid of Company of Heroes for Helldivers 2.

Are we allowed accessories/other controllers? If so my list would be as follows,

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Pokémon Crystal
Animal Crossing (GC one)
