What even is this, because I don't know?!?

In an ideal and just world, GRcade would live on the love in our hearts and the smiles on our faces. Unfortunately, server companies only take hard cash and it can be tricky building up this funding.

Many of us consider GR to be our home on the Internet. Chats, banter, laughs, comments that annoy us for days... it's all here! We'd love to have access to this vibrant place for free but perhaps we could also consider chucking in the odd gold coin to keep it going?

I want raw facts now!

> We're looking to establish roughly how many folk would be willing to pay to support GRcade; a couple of quid per month to cover the necessary hosting and maintenance costs (note: not "payment" for anyone related to GRcade - the funding would be purely for the tech costs)

> There would be no "benefits" to paying - beyond seeing GRcade continue to be up and running! - so folk would not become owners, mods, exempt from rules, entitled to meet (meat?) Gecko every Wednesday night, or anything else. It would be a voluntary, no-contract payment

> We hope to have a direct debit option for folk who wish to contribute a small amount each month, as well as other payment options such as PayPal / Stripe for people looking to make an ad-hoc payment

Will my account be emptied if I vote?!?

Of course, by voting you are not "signing up" - this is just to get a flavour for how many people would support such a scheme. Thanks for taking part!

Yes.

This is the only real place I bother with on the internet other than Twitch and helping to keep it going is the least I can do.

For £2 a month I would expect to be able to ban at least one person. :x

I'd probably be able to chip in, though I am finding I have less time to spend on here recently.

I'd only waste the money on a Nintendo online subscription if I didn't.

I have a lot of bank accounts and do a lot of switching, these switches often need direct debits to get a cash bonus, or even get an account.

So yeah if I could do a direct debit I may consider it a bit more. £1-£2 a month why not.

I haven’t contributed to GRcade in the past, I prefer to give my charity to members when they do money raising events and advertise them here.

I would be more than happy to donate £2 a month to keep this place going, it's the only corner of the internet I always visit. Other places come and go, but GRcade is literally my home on the internet and I love it and everyone* on it

*not everyone

Yes. If it could be done via subscription or standing order then so much the better.

If it's a few quid or no GRCade, then a few quid it shall be.

What are the annual/monthly upkeep costs? Just curious.

Jawa decided to make this thread following this discussion - if you want to know more, Gecko has already gone into some detail there

Personally I think GRcade should contribute to support me, helping fund my quality content.

I am happy to fund your lifestyle. Just send me your bank details, address, debit/credit card security code, password, date of birth and your mother’s maiden name and I will arrange the payment.
