I'm sure there will be lots of placeholder content lifted from other games whilst the game is in development stage. Finally though, what appears to be genuine GTA 6 footage. And it's Vice City. I'm happy!
Didn't they help make RDR2 in the meantime though?
Sure, it's just frustrating that 9 years on it just looks like GTAV. Feels so stagnant compared to the pace of GTA up until San Andreas. I know that the industry as a whole seems to have slowed in a similar way, GTA is just a very prominent example of that.

Yeah that's fair. The more investment that goes into these blockbuster games the less radical they'll likely end up design wise I guess.
Although with plainly early footage that's brimming with developer text boxes and the like there's probably not that much worth in trying to determine basically anything about what the final game will be like, aside from things like setting and maybe characters.
Is it really that much of a nightmare for them? They probably didn't want it leaked, but it's not like the game won't sell 100million+ copies.
Don't make light of it Moggy, leaks can seriously damage a game's commercial and critical performance. Half Life 2's source leaked a year before release and as a result nobody has ever heard of that obscure game

To be fair, they did end up cancelling Half Life 3

I've got no idea what could happen. Take Two are unbelievably strict about these things, though. The biggest leak in gaming history? There's no way they're letting it slide. Apparently, all it took was a simple phishing email sent to an employee that pretended to be an official Slack email (the communications app being used) to gain access to all the info that had been sent through it. And potentially the entire source code of the game, if it's true that the hacker is trying to blackmail T2 with it.
I can see them tightening security protocols a lot after this.
I think it looks garbage, like Gotham Knights level of garbage [Gotham Knights looks worse than Batman Arkham Knight, what have they been doing to justify the development time and cost].
Rockstar’s bubble might finally burst, one game a generation and it’s barely moved on from V…

Well for starters, I imagine the Internet will get flooded with knock off mods and story spoilers, which from a marketing perspective is an absolute nightmare before they've even announced the game properly. Although GTA is so big this would hurt sales but not kill it.
Their bigger issue is the risk to the next decade of GTA online and all that sweet microtransaction revenue because unless they majorly rework the code online is going to be broken. It's going to be a lot easier for people to hack and mod and alll their online security stuff is going to he compromised.
Can't see how this doesn't get delayed now. Great job hackers!
Kind of suprising how many people on twitter think these leaks are representative of the final product. That said it is twitter. More suprising that some of you in this thread are thinking it. Wow.

Gamers think they know exactly how games are made so are compelled to complain about what engine something is designed in, missing features or ports they think would take a week to implement, or the idea that a feature can be designed for an expansion or sequel because impacting the core release wouldn't be worth the hassle.
Events like this one continue to show that a lot of the enthusiast audience is relatively clueless about how games are made in lots of different ways.
I saw it, saw it was very early and was clearly very much work in progress and lost interest and turned off. It’s a leak, yes, but it’s nothing like what we’ll see at release, whenever that is.

This.
Really don't think people fully understand what pre Alpha or development means.
For example here is what GTA5 looked like during development.

Looks terrible. Rockstar are doomed, GTA5 will be a massive flop, and they'll get bought by Sony.
