TBF, a lot of those were produced by other studios. All the Max Payne games save 3, LA Noire, Midnight Club (which was R* San Diego).

Wow. They really have been riding high on GTA Online. Just... nothing... for five years? At this point they may as well just be the GTA company with how little they've used everything else. Red Dead is pretty much a wild west version of GTA, so it still works out (just unfortunately without the better Online).

Whenever GTA VI releases, it'll last them another five plus years without another game release. Although hopefully this time they actually do have something else to put out.

There's an interview going around where Franklin's VA jokes that they might be bringing CJ back in a future game, and for some reason I keep imagining Rockstar have been working on a San Andreas HD Part 2 where they expand the rest of San Andreas as they did Los Santos County. It'd never happen, as I could never see them returning to the same location as the major locale of a game, but seeing a more accurate take on the whole of San Andreas would be fun.

However, I think everyone would rather Rockstar present a new locale or an HD version of Vice City before another return to somewhere we've recently been (as much as five years can be counted recent).

I know I probably shouldn't be posting this here, as it's very unlikely to be related to GTA VI. This is the closest to a recent GTA thread here, however, and I don't think this needs its own thread. The concept of Michigan as a state is complete. Remember that old concept I posted half a year ago? This one completely puts that to shame. Spoilered for size.

Image

There's also a lot more thought gone into this one, with the aim being to keep as close as possible to the shape of the state, as well as keeping it looking the most natural state you could get (within the realms of a concept map can, at any rate). As such, I have a post detailing exactly how this vision was crafted on my blog in Creating a New State Within the GTA-verse. It's not the most detailed of looks into the creation, as that would have doubled the size of such a post, but it does give a general idea of the aim. No doubt I'll do a part two that dives into each individual town or at least county featured.

Saw this on ResetEra and thought it very much makes sense:

Image

Each year, Take-Two files a 10-K with numerous financial details, including its plans for marketing spend for each year for the next five years. In its previous 10-K, Take-Two notified investors of a spike in marketing costs for fiscal 2023. But that spending has now shifted to fiscal 2024. This movement in spending likely reflects developer Rockstar Games’ current plans for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.

“We are not sure how much we should be reading into this shift, but we would note that this disclosure accurately predicted the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 prior to that game’s announcement,” Cohen wrote in a note to investors. “[Take-Two management] has spoken very confidently about the pipeline over the next five years and existing live services execution has been excellent. However, the timing of the next Grand Theft Auto remains top-of-mind for investors, particularly with the stock near all-time-highs.”

First, since Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t ready for current-gen, Rockstar will want to wait until the next-gen consoles are more well established. The studio doesn’t want to leave money on the table by selling to 25 million people on next-gen in 2022 when it could reach a bigger customer base a year later as folks buy more consoles.

Rockstar is also in no rush to replace Grand Theft Auto V. The game continues to sell month-after-month, and GTA Online brings in a ton of revenue. A GTA VI needs to seamlessly pick up that momentum. So it’s important that Rockstar gets the game right. Even more crucial is figuring out how to transition the GTA Online audience to any potential followup in GTA VI.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. It's a shame that 5 years between large rockstar releases makes business sense.

They said they're working on the next title in the series, so may as well revive this thread for a short spell.

Vice City and other areas of Florida in the HD universe. Then they can go crazy with somewhere else.

The first sentence of the first post is wild

As late as 2022! Imagine that.

I honestly can't really imagine what they can or will do. I hope it's more playable and less stupid detail orientated as RDR2. Having said that anything I can imagine GTA6 doing doesn't really interest me. It's been so long since I played an open world city, mission based game in the style of GTA I've no idea what they're like now.

I remember loving the world of 5 so as long as they do something interesting with that aspect I'll be curious.

I'd love to direct a new GTA. And I can get one out fast, as well. So welcome to GTA: Grove Street. The map is just one single street on an island. All of the great things you love about GTA condensed into one street. And the size of the map you can guess easily enough from the name of the game.

Seriously, though. If I could get my concepts noticed and asked to direct a game, I'd do so. In a heartbeat.

Why, yes! That's the perfect thing about this new game. You could own a piece of furniture from any of the houses as an NFT! Like the look of the bed in number 6? You can own it! The vibrator of number 10? Yours if you want it! Just check the website for all the items available.

After the frankly insane figures the online aspect of GTA V has done for them I do wonder if they’ll approach GTA VI online first, single player second.

Be thankful I'm being that easy on him. I could go so much deeper into the name calling hole.

I mean, the whole getting Online onto the next generation consoles and separating it from GTA V leads me to believe it's going to be supported for a long, long time. Which includes adding the map of GTA VI and entwining those characters into the Online story somehow.

They’ll support the PS5/XS versions of GTA V for a while, but they’ll be pushing for everyone to get onboard with GTA VI asap after launch, they’ll push online heavily, maybe make it you can do a one way transfer of your money so there will be some sort of continuation for playing GTA V online till VI launches. Chances are it’ll be their only true current gen title as well, much RDR 2 was their only new game on the previous consoles, so the sooner they get players moved over to it fully the better for them.

I'd love for them to write a game that's not incredibly patriacal.

I remember like 3 female characters in 5 and one of them was killed as a joke.

Watch Dogs Legion showed the potential for this, i think it would be amazing.
