https://www.vg247.com/2018/03/06/gta-6- ... ease-date/

GTA 6 will take place in two locations, feature the series’ first female lead character and could release as late as 2022, according to a new report.

The next numbered entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise will be set in or around Miami or Rockstar’s version of south Florida, known as Vice City in the GTA universe, but players will also fly to South America for some missions.

For the first time in the series GTA 6 will feature a female character as one of the main leads, although there’s no more details on whether players will take control of more than one protagonist as they do in GTA 5.

As for a release date, the game is said to be at least 3-4 years away. Knowing Rockstar’s inability to release a game at its first intended street date, you should probably expect GTA 6 sometime around 2022.

All of this is according to The Know citing an “inside source”, which claims GTA 6 is referred to internally at Rockstar as Project Americas. The Know’s history with rumours and leaks is patchy, although it correctly revealed details of Dark Souls 3 before official confirmation. We’re not ones to judge.

You should take all rumours with a massive pinch of salt, unless you live in Brazil, in which case you can buy GTA 6 for the PS2 right now.

While GTA 6 might be set in Miami or Vice City, there’s no info on whether it would return to the 1980s or feature GTA: Vice City’s Tommy Vercetti.

For me, I'd love a remake of GTA Vice City.

Absolutely loved the aesthetic of that game and I still listen to the soundtrack to this day, an it'd be a great way to introduce 80s music to a new generation.

Obviously this would affect gameplay, the smartphone and internet systems used in GTA V wouldn't be acceptable here, but they can build on GTA V/RDR II with advanced in AI and a first person mode.

How about you?

Oh, boy, I'd love an 80s setting but, having already made Vice City, I'd be amazed if they returned to that period.

I love the environments and scale of GTA games but the actual gameplay always leaves me cold. I did some missions in III and Vice City but in San Andreas, 4 and V I've just driven up hills and stuff whilst listening to the radio. Which was fun!

What I want to see is a really big world map. It needs to be at least six times as big as the last one, with large open deserts, vast oceans and as little detail as humanly possible. Then throw in plenty of fetch quests from one side of the map to the other.

GTA 6 should be set in 1980's Blackpool.

They could then stick in some really amazing arcades so I can spend my time not playing GTA 6 :shifty: .

I'd like to see them do London 1961, but there was an interview a number of years ago in which they said "GTA is America", so unless there has been a change of mind they're not going to do London or anywhere else in Europe.

Would also be nice to see other parts of America for a change, because games 9 times out of 10 do the same two (California and New York).

They could just pretend Blackpool is just to the south of Vegas and for some reason has a lot of British expats :shifty: .

It's kind of similar.

They seem to always rotate between Los Angeles, New York and Miami, and I think the Miami setting is long overdue.

1980`s most definitely, but it's already been done. If there's any truth to the location then I suspect we will be seeing a more modern day Vice City.

I'd like to see less of the teenage snark that infests the wider GTA universe. Pisswasser beer, Faggio scooters, an unending cavalcade of smart ass pedestrians, I know they're deeply ingrained and kind of core to the franchise tone but that crap was tired when GTAV came out. The thought of wading through it all again is exhausting. Maybe we could have a world tinged with a less inherently pessimistic or nihilistic view of humanity.

I have an unplayed copy on PS3. Picked it up when I re-bought GTA III, VC & San An.

Either a smaller map or a map with stuff actually in it.

The GTA V map was about 3 times bigger than necessary, purely so that they could bulk out the play time with endless driving around.

PC and Xbox One. But for most it would either be PS3/X360 -> PS4/XB1 or PS3/XB360 -> PC. Though the die hards would have all three versions.
__________

I think the size of the map in GTAV is fine. I've never minded it. It's diverse enough that it doesn't matter, and if Online is coming back to be the second half then it's better to have unused space to make use of rather than have to add more in the future. Although if they can add new stuff to the offline half, that'd be great. Vice City hasn't seen a HD version yet, and with the references in both IV and V I think it would be good to take the game there.

But how does one expand Vice City? It's an island. San Andreas was changed a lot in the jump to the HD universe, so it could be done with Vice City, connecting it with a larger landmass. That landmass would include the Everglades and the west coast of southern Florida, using Route 70 as the cut-off point. Of course, this wouldn't be a to-scale version.

There'd be Vice City taking up the entire east side of the map, with the Everglades and the other wildlife preserves taking up the south. To the west would be the GTA version of Cape Coral, with the north being a large lake [similar to the Okeechobee] and smaller towns. All of that would be similar in size or slightly larger than the map of the HD San Andreas.

Still dont have GTA V 8-)
DarkRula wrote:But how does one expand Vice City?

Easy. You make more of whats there. Look at what the Yakuza series does with its smaller spaces.
