No it wasn't anyone famous, I was just sat opposite two normal guys (about 30 or so I'd say) talkng about video games and other computer related things. Mainly video games though. They spoke of the usual RROD after the first 30 seconds of Dead Space's intro on my 360, Fallout 3 riddled with bugs (I think they were referring to Fallout 3, don't shoot the messenger here), someone over the counter of a game shop (no idea which one) recommending that to make the choice between Fallout (PC) and Dead Space (360) the guy just go for Dead Space and give pirate bay a look (yes apparantly the guy over the counter really did say that). But, after a while one of them pulled out a black DS. Turns out it was his wife's DS. Inside it he had Professor Layton and his wife had already racked up a huge play time (I didn't see what it was as I was opposite them, but from the looks on their faces it was alot, especially as she had only had it since Saturday). And she had completed before he had, I think he was still working his way through it. Not only that, he got it for her after asking her what she wanted for their 10th anniversary present (as he said, a family that plays together, stays together).

So to give this topic a point, what gaming related things have happened to you on the train/made for a 'quick to GR moment'?

As for me, I literally take a ds with a copy of layton nearly everywhere I go. I've completed the main game, but there's still a few puzzles I've yet to do, and I regularly bring the ds out for a quick blast at those puzzles that I still haven't been able to get since March.

I adore Prof Leyton. Game of the year, still, for me.

EDIT: After now figuring out that I've completely missed the point of the topic, I will add that I don't get the train anywhere. Sorry.

Although I did overhear some young chappies having a rather friendly debate about fifa/pro evo in uni the other day.

Every morning on the train I have my PSP and Star Ocean on the go.

Don't ever see other gamers on my journey to work.

I, somewhat oddly, randomly heard someone say in the college library "I lost my Game Boy" in a really sad tone of voice the other week...

...does that count?

I never meet gamers on my adventures and I read on the train so no one could tell I'd be a gamer either.

When I travel up that way I will have my PSP out and the kids have their DSs out.

At Uni I walked past an open room and two guys were playing Fifa or Pro Ev. That's all I can think of.

 I had music playing through my in-ear Sennheisers and could still hear them. It's not like I did it on purpose. :P

I've also seen a few other people playing DSs on the train and a couple with PSPs (one was watching a movie on his when I saw him). I never seem to have my DS/the battery charged when I see anyone else with a DS. Strange that.

Other week when I was on the train I saw a rather stunning female playing a DS Lite. An Enamel Navy DS Lite. My perfect girl... and then she left.

Pfft, Newcastle aint my way, sonny jim ;)
I blame the credit crunch - we all earn about £4 an hour up here, so we're busy buying food, or not being able to afford public transport in the first place.

Actually, a middle aged woman was buying Wii Fit in Woolies, and she told me how she hated the Wii and wanted to sell it for a 360, but she couldn't because it's her sons.

Did you tell her that her son is an idiot?

I have to get a 20 minute bus to Uni every day, so I'd probably get pretty bored of that if I didn't take my PSP/DS. I've yet to see anyone else play one yet though. I didn't think about watching movies/TV shows on my PSP, I could probably fit in an episode of South Park on the way there or back. Hmm.

I wish I could do that. I had to endure 45 minute bus journeys to and from uni last year. What I'd have given to be able to play some games or read a book. Trying to focus on anything close up when I'm travelling makes me feel really ill. Trains and planes are fine, but buses are much too unstable for me to be able to concentrate on anything without getting horrible travel sick.

I saw someone reading Edge on a train once, and someone else watching a movie on his PSP in a rather curious way. He had it flat on a table, and watched it by leaning right over it with his hands behind his head. :?

Maybe all of his social relationships involve standing near people and not actually engaging in any sort of conversation.

EDIT: Sorry, DD64. No offence intended. Just a funny image. In my head, at least.

When the ds first came out I was on a train between derby and Sheffield and decided to randomly fire up pictochat (what with it being a cool little app back in 05) and found a guy and a girl in the midst of a conversation! I joined in and we ended up jumping into a quick gameshare of mario 64! I never did meet them though
