GWENT is a competitive card game developed by CD PROJEKT RED -- creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In GWENT, gamers clash with friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. The game is played over a best-of-three series of rounds, as players unleash their hand by slinging spells and diverse units with special abilities, and use clever tricks to deceive their opponents.

Details

What game modes are available in GWENT?
Right now you can play a casual match or ranked match, as well as challenge a friend. You can also practice your skills against the AI and learn the basics of GWENT in the tutorial. New modes are planned to be added in the future.

Do I get any rewards for playing matches? How does it work?
You get rewarded for winning rounds and matches, leveling up, gaining ranks in Ranked Match mode, as well as at the end of a ranked play season. You also get a small reward for receiving a Good Game from your opponent at the end of a match.

Can I play GWENT in single player mode?
In a nutshell: yes, but not during the upcoming Beta. We plan to release a fully featured single player adventure for GWENT, and a skirmish, player vs. AI mode.

Do you plan to introduce new content as the game matures?
You bet we do! Since the launch of Closed Beta, we’ve expanded the game to feature additional cards and mechanics like ranked play and player rankings. And as time passes, we plan on making GWENT even bigger, with single-player adventures, language versions, new game modes and more.

Do you support cross-play and cross-buy, i.e. purchasing items on platform A and using them on platform B?
We can confirm cross-play between Xbox One and PC -- all other options are being discussed. When GWENT launches on Windows 10 as an UWP application, the account between UWP and Xbox One will be shared. That means progress and cards are shared between both platforms.

Beta details

Can I sign up for the Closed Beta despite it already being live?
Yes, of course! Please click here to access the registration form.

I signed up for the Closed Beta. When will I get access?
The simplest answer is: soon. We’re inviting users in waves and it’s hard to predict when and how big each wave is going to be. We want to share GWENT with as many people as we can and we’re working hard to make that happen.

When will the Closed Beta end? / When will you launch the Open Beta?
The Closed Beta is expected to end sometime in the spring of 2017. But that’s only a rough estimate -- we have only one goal with the entire Beta and that’s to make GWENT as fun an experience as possible. We’ll come out of Beta when we have a game we think is honest, fun and well balanced.

Why do you need to beta-test GWENT... after all, it was already present in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?
While the core of the game remains the same, GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is much more than the game you used to play in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This includes in-game assets like card art, card voice-overs and even skills, and what’s even more important, it features a competitive PVP mode we built from scratch. That’s why we do need to beta-test it and we would really appreciate your help in this regard.

Do you plan on wiping progress during Beta in the future?
It’s possible. However, should this happen, you‘ll be informed in advance.

What items can I purchase during Closed Beta?
During Closed Beta, you can purchase Card Kegs which contain extra cards for your decks.

What will happen with the items I purchased during the Beta? Will I get to keep them after the game goes out of Beta?
Should any progress resets happen, we will return you the number of Card Kegs you purchased using real-world currency.

Is the GWENT Closed Beta available for users from all countries?
The Closed Beta is available worldwide.

What languages will the GWENT Closed Beta support?
Currently, the Closed Beta build of GWENT is available in English, Polish, French, Russian, German, and Brazilian Portuguese. We plan on introducing additional language localizations to in the future.

Do I have to register on GOG.com to participate in the Closed Beta of GWENT?
In the Closed Beta, having an account on GOG.com is necessary only if you’re playing on PC. You can sign up for free here.

What is GOG Galaxy?
GOG Galaxy is a game client powering the multiplayer and matchmaking aspects of GWENT. Thanks to GOG Galaxy, you will always run the latest version of the game as it handles all the updates for you. If you want to, you can find out more about GOG Galaxy on http://www.gog.com/galaxy.

My GWENT Closed Beta redeem code is invalid. What should I do?
Please check your code. If you’re entering it correctly and it has not been previously redeemed on another account, please contact GWENT support.

Do I need Xbox Live Gold to play GWENT during Closed Beta on Xbox One?
Yes, you need to have an active Xbox Live Gold membership to play.

CD Projekt will host a Gwent: The Witcher Card Game technical beta on PlayStation 4 this weekend.

You can play the game from 6pm UK time on Friday, 31st March until 8am UK time on Monday, 3rd April. To get in all you have to do is go to the PlayStation Store and download the game (you'll need about 3GB of space). A PlayStation Plus subscription is not required.

The Technical Beta build lets you create your own decks, play the tutorial and online casual matches. Real currency purchases are disabled. After the beta ends, accounts will be deleted. CD Projekt said it wants the beta to test how the game works on PS4 with many users playing at the same time, so there may be technical glitches.

Scheduled to begin May 24th, Public Beta will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“Public Beta is the next step in the game’s development process, one that we’d be honored to continue alongside everyone who’s been with us thus far,” said Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD PROJEKT RED. “It’s also a chance for many new gamers to play GWENT for the first time and we’re looking forward to making the game even better with their help,” added Lee.

Watch the Public Beta overview live on the official CD PROJEKT RED Twitch channel
The stream will begin today (May 17th) at 9PM CEST

GWENT’s Public Beta is a fresh start for everyone. Card collections and player progress will reset to ensure gamers begin on equal footing. Everyone who participated in the Closed Beta will receive Card Kegs, as well as other in-game rewards for their activity. Additional information regarding Closed Beta participation rewards is available here.

The switch from Closed to Public Beta will entail a short technical transition period starting May 22nd. Until the start of Public Beta on May 24th, game servers will be offline for maintenance. During this time, GWENT’s Facebook and Twitter channels will provide updates on the game’s status.

This finally released on android last week, anyone playing it?

I've won a few games, leveled up, and started drawing against players using custom decks, and this is usually the point at which I bail out on TCGs because I just can't get my head around deck building.

Honestly, why the game makes you play a series of tutorial matches for 20 minutes so you can learn that more points is better and best of three wins, but then offers no guidance on deck building, and what all the different special abilities of additional resources are, is beyond me.

I'm playing it and I've just finished the tutorial.

Is it slightly different to the game in Witcher 3? Also can I turn the vibration off? It's killing my phone battery.

Presentation is very Slick and I like the animations and sounds. They've got the feel of the proper games down really well. Actually I'm now tempted to buy Witcher 3 on Switch.

What deck are you using?

Yeah, it's adapted over the game in Witcher 3. There are way more mechanics at play, and a ton more cards, but the core game game is the same.

I'm using the Scoia'tael starter deck. I've done some reading round, and most places seem to recommend sticking with the starter decks for a long while until you've racked up more experience and cards. Different faction decks have a whole range of their own mechanics and boosts, so I guess I'll switch a few round to get a feel for them, and there are other factions outside of the ones with starter decks, too.

You're playing online against other people, so probably not. There are turn timers as well.

Maybe in training mode?
