Cool, thanks. Did you find yourself getting there reasonably quickly after your first clear?

Yeah definitely - I had a streak of 6 clears in a row before seeing the credits without even really trying.

We'll I was trying, obviously, but you know what I mean. Just casually playing and "oh cool I won again".

Yes, very. Successful clears quickly became the norm after the first few escapes as you get the permanent upgrades up.

How did you unlock this? I don't remember seeing this even after a few successful clears.

It's just additional mirror upgrades

Ah, guess I need some more keys then. Based on screen space left, I assume there's only 2 more left, so I've not been going for keys as I go through runs now. Guess I'd better get back on them. :fp:

Extra upgrades as in increasing the uses of the existing mirror entry with darkness, not unlocking new ones with keys. You can get 3 max uses of death defiance.

Sweet. Just got to make a decision whether to go onto a different game for a while or keep up the momentum.

I like it as a second screen type game. Like if my partner wants to watch something in the lounge I'm happy to play it handheld with half an eye on what's on TV.

It plays well handheld, but I find the text really hard to see. You kind of get a sixth sense for what is going on though. It starts feeling like an RTS.

Annoyingly, my left joycon is so buggered with drift and disconnection issues that I can't play handheld any more, unless I'm using the kickstand and a pro controller.

Sorry for double post. I'm up to 6 escapes, having escaped with everything except the Bow (fists twice). The Bow is the absolute worst because it can't really dash strike.

Pro tip for the bow - get up real close and use the volley fire. There are some upgrades to it like increasing the number of arrows or increasing damage for each arrow that hits that make it very good if you stick to volley and treat it like a close range weapon (that is still great at crowd control at range)

Yeah I love the bow - its special paired with the right boon absolutely destroys. Poseidon's boon I remember being particularly great - especially when you get the additional poseidon boon that hurts more when knocking them into walls.

That is a uniquely British view out the window. Poorly gridded, post-war homes and an overcast sky as far as the eye can see. Brings a tear to the eye.

But genuinely that mirrored controller layout feels wrong

And credits have rolled. Excellent game. 10 clears flew by and became relatively easy, where I wasn't even using a Death Defiance, no matter what weapon I chose. Just at the point where I think it was becoming slightly repetitive, so will probably draw a line there, but certainly among the best examples in videogames of a perfectly integrated medium/message.

I realise I'm way behind on everyone else but I finally beat the Bone Hydra! So satisfying.

According to the basin thingy, I've only played 12 attempts. I need to step things up a notch.

First time playing my Switch since the PS5 released

Same here (but Series X).

Got my second clear yesterday. I love that final post Hades area and the accompanying music.

Just had a go with the twin gauntlets during my lunch break. When the heavy riffs kick in, I really think the music gets me just as pumped as the soundtrack in Doom Eternal.

Maybe this really was GotY and I just hadn't spent enough time with it :o
