Probably quicker to download after release than pre-loading and unpacking.

Apparently a streamer tried just deleting their pre-load and downloading it fresh. It downloaded and then started to unpack again.

Shiiiiit, I forgot to charge my controllers. Best do it now while I have between 20 minutes and 11 years.

Nvidia released drivers today as well.

Watched about a minute of footage on Twitch and it looks amaze balls. Not going to watch any more, because I don't want to see any big spoilers, but oh boy. Absolutely chomping at the bit to upgrade my PC now.

Just waiting for the plot summary to be written for the Wikipedia page.

Seems mostly spoiler free as well.

EDIT: They also have an article on the front of the site titled "Where does Half-Life: Alyx's ending leave the series? " which has a spoiler warning, so if you're wanting to be not spoilt I would get on the game as soon as you can and be aware that there will be trolls out there I'm sure.

Played the first level and it was really good. I envy people with the VR legs for smooth movement as I'd imagine it makes it way better than using teleport movement, but I just can't handle smooth movement for more than a minute or two before my stomach starts going "No you"

I was a little worried my CPU wouldn't be up to snuff, minimum specs are i5-7500 and mine is an i5-4690k, but seems to be handling it pretty well.

Controls for the Gloves definitely take a little bit of getting used to though.

The flick and catch actually gives you something to do rather than just point and click on stuff, it feels pretty damn cool.

Got to Chapter 2 in a little under an hour, not sure if I should just keep playing until I drop or string it out a bit longer. Don't see any way I won't have finished at the weekend though.

This is strawberry floating amazing. Playing it maxed out :datass:

The gravity gloves are so cool, flicking at catching ammo becomes second nature.

Just played this for the first time. Granted the Half-Life series is my favourite already, but jesus this is something else. The 'flick & grab mechanic solves so many VR game problems and the shooting in this feels sublime.

I got to Chapter 2, but I may restart to go back through the tutorial and get a bit more used to the controls.

I found that I pretty much have to play the game standing though. I'd like to play sitting down, but it's just more immersive standing up and even though the game supports sitting it's clearly made with standing in mind (Like more or less every other VR game)

Standing for me along with the smooth teleport (not blink). I tried the stick movement and I almost threw up my own pelvis bone.

It looks so strawberry floating good as well, at times I've forgotten it's a game, then bumped in to my desk and just not understood what was going on.

The first combat encounter :dread: I was doing fine until I ran out of bullets and had to reload while an enemy was moving for me. Such a satisfying reload mechanic, but so easy to mess up when you're panicking

I've only tried the blink teleport, but I might give the smooth teleport a try.

Every bit as good as I had hoped. Grabbing cartridges and resin from afar and then casually placing them into your backpack is a strangely bad-ass feeling action. Maybe I was in the middle of combat or something?

I'm about two and a half hours in, not sure which chapter thaet would be, but I've been taking my time and interacting with a lot of things, so pace has been slow. I've just started seeing floating cardboard in the shape of an eye and I stopped for the evening stood under a bridge which had paintings of the events of half life and hl2 on the walls.

Can't wait to finish work tomorrow and get straight on this.

Where were you when the country went in to lockdown? City 17 8-)

So the wait for a new Half-Life has been worth it?

I'm not sure what's been worse. The wait from Episode 2 to now, or the wait till I get paid next Tuesday knowing that it's out there and people are playing it?
