Not sure if "minimum specs" are genuinely enforced these days. I suspect it would probably be fine, if anything the 6600K has a slight edge over the 7500

I still can't believe this exists.

This is worth a watch btw:

I'm assuming Sony are on the phone to Valve right now begging them to port it to PSVR2.

strawberry float's sake, I only bought myself a 580 (8GB, admittedly,) about a year ago, and it's okay just the minimum requirement for this? :dread:

The rest of my computer really needs an upgrade too, and honestly, there's no way I can afford to buy a new PC set up, and a VR headset, or either realistically, any time soon. :(

I'm going to be so jelly of everyone getting to play this next year.

I think I'll look in to overclocking when it gets closer. I bought the components I did with a view to pushing them for vr anyway, then just set it all up as default and never bothered :fp: I'd be getting benefits NOW ffs.

I've got a bit if speculation about how the game might start (all from in my head, but based on a comment from one of the devs)

while it's a prequel to half life 2, one of the devs suggested you should play through episode 2 to se the ending, as it's related to this. I can foresee the game actually starting during the end of episode 2, the gman appearing and freezing you, vortidoodas pulling you out like they did to Gordon, and you going back in time to change the future. Then it rolls in to half life 3 which is effectively a reboot :datass:

Yeah, time is malleable in the HL Universe. There's no way it's not going to be framed as a flashback or memory at the very least.

The only spec my PC meets is Windows 10. Yeah I need a new build.

Yeah, I was already planning a new build for Cyberpunk but this reveal has added some additional weight to the argument that I really need to get on with it!

Probably won't get on this at launch at the current rate, probably need a bit more time to save up for the PC and Index purchase, but it's gonna be worth it! :datass:

Like Ad I'm running a i5-6600k but apart from that I'm well above the specs.

Apart from, you know, a VR headset

I meet the minimum no problem, but I would perhaps like a little more overhead in terms of RAM and GPU. Currently on 16gb and a 1080.

I'm not too concerned though and I don't plan on upgrading prior to the release, but I may bump up one or both by this time next year.

I really need to do a complete new build this time which is going to make things slightly more expensive. The last two builds I've done have re-used various components like the case, fans, PSU etc. and so a clean break is probably best.

Running a new high(ish) end system on 15 year old fans is probably not the best idea! :slol:

I just watched the trailer again. I think that big floating ship might be the citadel in transport form.

Hard pass on this as it’s VR. Should have done HL3 instead. Might be an amazing game for all I know but not worth the financial outlay.

I know it's not what you realy mean, but it wouldn't be for just one game. There's so much more you can play.

I knew people back in 2004 who built whole new gaming PCs just for Half-Life 2. And now people are crying about having to buy a headset.

I can understand though. It's still a lot of money to drop on something, especially when they might also need to build or upgrade a PC as well. I got lucky in that I came into some cash at the right time and was able to get it at that point.

It's the first BIG PC game I can think of since Crysis that has had a significant barrier of entry to it in terms of hardware requirements so I can appreciate why some people aren't best pleased.

But life will move on, the cost to access will drop over time and thanks to PC being the way it is, HL:A will be ready and waiting for players when they are able to come to it.

My feeling is that if HL:A is able to increase the install base, which it absolutely will, we're going to start seeing more big name titles have VR exclulsive versions. It'll be slow, but I think this is the start of it.
