I just loaded up the two alyx preview environments - strawberry float me they look great. Such a step up from the old games, almost lifelike in their detail. Two small static environments and due to the ambient sounds, i was on edge, in the steam home environment ffs! I can see this being strawberry floating terrifying

Can't wait, this is going to be amazing.

Are they just listed in the available environments? I've had a little mess with that but haven't switched from the default yet, or found a way to search for them, unless you need to search for them outside of the actual Steam VR Home?

They were being displayed on the big screen in the home environment when I first loaded it up.

I did take a look at the Valve artist ones from within the Steam VR Home but couldn't see the Alyx ones from in there. Weird.

REALLY hope Alyx comes with an explicit "Play sitting down" option. Getting tired of loading up games and finding that I need to either stand up to play, or mess with accessibility options to change the height of the viewpoint.

God this has tempted me to go VR, but now it's not the time for a new PC and a headset that costs a grand. I suppose it'll still be there when I'm ready, I just hope I didn't see any spoilers before then.

It is a bit mad to think a new Half-Life game will be out today. All those years waiting and wondering when or if. Sadly I don't have VR currently but I hope all those that do have an amazing time with this new game. Can't wait to see the reactions.

Insanely jealous of people getting this now. I'm going to be waiting a while to play new Half-Life but it will be worth it!

Still remember how big the launch of HL2 felt back in the day, can't think of many releases that match that level of hype for me personally.

Yeah, very envious of those getting this today. Whether I get to play this is going to be determined largely by whether we get a bonus at work this year, and whether it'll cover the cost of a pc upgrade if we do.

Also, oculus Link cables are out of stock in the UK. :x

I suppose the rest of us will need to wait for this to turn up on PS5 VR?

One thing I didn't realise is that the game is set between Half Life and Half Life 2, so it's still not actually continuing the story or anything.

I wouldn't be so sure. They've said you need to play episode 2, and (this is our speculation on my part) i think time travel/portals will be involved at some point. Not based on anything but how I think it could wrap the story up.
