Anyone got a rough idea how many chapters are in this? I've just started chapter 5 and I'm 6 hours in.

Great, thank you.

Not that I'm bothered, but the achievements haven't been unlocking for me. It's odd as I'm presented with the ones my friends have, but mine are all locked.

The first time I did the opening chapter I didn't get achievements but the second time I did it I got them. I wonder if there's some kind of "first playthrough" bug.

That's quite possible. I'll definitely be playing multiple times, so it'll be good to go back and try playing it in different ways.

Late chapter 4 spoilers:

The grenade tutorial  They're really intuitive to use, and the little detail of arming them with the button press feels just right. Dropping them from above on to the people below was cool. The heavy guy that appeared next though, and the fight on the train platform :dread: Felt great throwing the grenades from behind cover and going for weak points on the enemies.

Had my first proper fire fight this evening

It's so satisfying when you can hit the tank on the back of some of the combine soldiers

Chapter 3:
CIA guy: Now what's the next step of your master plan?
Bane: Crashing this train... With no survivors!

Just exited Xen Garden. :dread:
Visually and atmospherically in general Ravenholm is scarier than anything I've come across so far in this game, but I don't think I was ever quite as tense while getting through that as I have been playing this.

The Quest continues to be a mostly acceptable way to play this game. The low refresh rate, lagginess and general tracking issues are a definite low-point of the experience though. Maybe it's better tethered with the Link feature? Don't have a long enough USB3 cable to test that at the moment (and the cable I ordered off Amazon for that purpose a few weeks back is still saying April 28th - June 3rd (coming from China)).

What would be ideal is if I could play it on the Vive with the Touch controllers, but that's obviously not an option.

Anyway, game continues to be superb. Fought my first few Combine soldiers and looking forward to the rest of the game taking place entirely out in the nice, relaxing, open air.

Ok, am I doing something wrong with the health syringes?

I've got one in each of my wrist pouches and am down to one heart, I pulled out a syringe and then...nothing. I'd swear that the tutorial one worked fine, just jab it into your hand and automatically use it, but now when I take one out and try to jab it into my hand nothing at all happens. Am I doing something wrong?

Pretty sure you need to activate them with a button press first. Not sure which button.

Bottom of the two buttons on the left controller needs to be held.

So apparently motion sickness is horrendous in this. Some people aren't able to play for more than half an hour without making themselves feel ill.

I've had none at all, and I'm playing with stick movement, which seems to be the movement type people have the most issues with.

Not true. There's a motion option to suit all. I get awful motion sickness, but with the smooth blink method in this I get absolutely nothing.

Yeah I'd imagine the smooth movement option will cause a lot of motion sickness, but for me at least that's true in every VR game I've tried. I haven't felt any motion sickness using the fade teleportation movement method though.
