Yeah, it really isn't any worse than other VR games for motion sickness. And it has a teleport option for people who are susceptible to it, which completely negates the issue (unless your system is underperforming and dropping tons of frames).

My only movement problem in Alyx is forgetting to move using the sticks and walking into my desk a lot :slol:

I'm playing through this fairly slowly, so still in Chapter 3.

The part where you need to go through the dark area filled with explosive barrels that you can't shoot :dread:
Ended up having to use so much handgun ammo to take out the ceiling things, then panicking when getting to the one that's trying to eat an explosive barrel, but you need to deal with a zombie first as well :dread: :dread:

Really enjoying myself so far though.

Ammo in this sure feels sparse once you get into some proper firefights. :dread:

Yeah I've definitely come close to running out of ammo a few times, and there doesn't seem to be any melee combat options? Or are you supposed to just grab random gooseberry fool and hit things with it?

Just got to the point where you get some grenades and the throw sensitivity serioiusly needs to be increased. If you try a gentle throw because you've got limited space and are worried about hitting something then it barely goes anywhere.
Also pretty gooseberry fool that you can carry only one thing per wrist pouch, rather than being able to store multiple grenades in one and multiple syringes in the other.

I've found the throwing to be spot on myself, but it did take me a while to get over the mentally holding back because you know a wall is about.

Its so obvious but it took me ages to work it out :fp:

I've started chapter 6:

freed the vortigunt in the power cable thing :( Combine are proper bastards.

Regarding the big story thing related to chapter 5 (speculative spoiler on my part):
I'm wondering if the vault may be the borealis shrouded in metal. It suddenly struck me today that it looks like a ship.

Chapter 4:
Grenades. That's a lot of grenades. Tempted to throw them in a box or a bucket to carry with me (though I've heard of the game crashing for some people who've done that).

Remember you can carry them in your wrist pockets. Also you can easily hold on to one while you move about if you think you'll need it. For things like the stabby Medical health things, if it looks like a battle may be about to take place, I tend to throw them forward, through a window, through a doorway, things like that. I find it helps if im under attack to know there's a few things dotted about.

I've had a couple of times where when claiming a ladder manually, the screen has just gone very dark grey and won't come back, so I've had to reload. I then discovered you can point the cursor at a ladder either up or down and it'll auto climb it if you hold it down.

Those strawberry floating electric dogs in chapter 5. :x

Is it just me, or is this chapter way longer than all the others so far?

Yes, they get longer (context) the further you get in to the game. I'm on about 11 or 12 hours now and I've just started chapter 8.

I've finished the game, took just over 15 hours in the end.

So bloody good. Looking forward to a second playthrough already.

Got paid today so first thing I did was get this bought.

Now I have to sit through a day of "working" from home before I can start playing.

The part with Jeff is massively overstaying its welcome by the time you get to needing the three power cores.

Enjoy! Stay away from anywhere that could spoil things, becuase you want to go in to all of it as blind as possible.

I don't know, I enjoyed that bit. Thought it was about right.
