Holy gooseberry fool Chapter 3 so far has been so strawberry floating scary at some parts. I hated dealing with headcrabs in the older games, but here they're even scarier. The bit where you get the flashlight and the bits just after made me feel so nervous walking through barely being able to see anything.

Got to the Northern Star Chapter

The bit before that in the train station put me so on edge. I don't know why but the Combine in this game feel so scary compared to in HL2. Maybe it's the VR, but when they're coming at you, especially the strawberry float off big ones with the shotguns it feels like there's nothing you can do if you strawberry float up throwing grenades like I have done now multiple times lmao

I tried playing this on my Rift CV1 but get lots of juddering during the game, even on low settings. I have an i5-3570k at stock and 1070 but the settings are on low. Did anyone else have this issue?

I have an i5 6600k and 1070 gtx, and I played it maxed out with little trouble.

I ran it on an i5-2500K, (overclocked, but still,) you'll probably be fine.

How much did you overclock your CPU? I'm having a lot of stuttering when I try to play so I'm working out how much to overclock my CPU.

I think I only nudged it up to 3.6 from the base of 3.3, so not massive, but it does have some kind of turbo frequency, and I'm not 100% on how that's affected by overclocking.

What processor have you got?

I've got a 3570K running at stock. I'll try moving it up to 3.6 or 3.7.

Hey Qikz, hows your play though going?

Anyone get a notification on steam about some sort of interactive Alyx thing? It's £7 and looks to be a sort of museum type thing, with models to inspect and behind the scenes stuff to view.

It looks like an interactive version of the half life 2 book (raising the bar?) that came out ages ago - and by the same person. I'm well interested in it, because I like behind the scenes stuff, but I want to play the game first for obvious reasons. I can't wait until I can justify the cost of a headset and get into this game.

Keyghley has previously done one of these for Titanfall, Portal 2 and Mass Effect 3. If it's anything like those then it'll be a long-form interactive digital book detailing the development of the game with videos, interviews, concept art and stuff like that. If it's anything like the previous ones then it'll be very, very good.

Looks like it's Windows only though so nah. Previous version came out on iPad and worked really well on that format.

I just got to the chapter Jeff and I'm a bit into it and all I can say is HOLY strawberry float. This is 100% one of my favourite games ever. It's amazing.

This was just my first test with the Quest 2 via link cable and SteamVR and it seriously blew my mind how amazing it looks and the overall smoothness of it, only got up to the train tracks but spent ages on it just grabbing gooseberry fool and using the gravity gloves

That part is strawberry floating amazing. The immersion is something else. When he was stood right beside me at one point :dread: :dread: :dread: Even worse when he heard me and got me, I actually crouched to the floor with my hands over the top of my head and did a little wail

There was a bit where I thought that I'd finally got away from him, then some headcrab appeared and pushed a load of bottles over drawing him over. That and the previous bit where you get stuck in the elevator with him. :dread:

When you end up in a very small room with drawers and cupboards, I was slooooowly lifting up a cupboard door, and a strawberry floating bottle just rolled straight out, and I instinctively reached out with my other hand and caught it just before it hit the floor. Amazing.

Lol, I only just saw this. This is exactly the way I played Half-Life 2 for the first time

From my investigations earlier this evening it seems that the probability the shotgun won't reload is inversely proportional to how many fast headcrabs are about to jump at your face.
